Mari was humming by the kitchen that was meticulously designed by her, now that she started her food truck business, she became more committed to enhancing the recipes she got from her mother so a good workplace is a must. She was now living in a bigger apartment since her income from her business had gone bigger and more profitable.
She was chopping onions when the door rang. As if she had expected it, she wiped her hands off and took her apron. "Coming!" she called and when she opened the door, Wilrin stood, compared to those early years where this young CEO where coming and forth to their poor bookstore, this man had grown with great maturity. His built became even broader as his eyes seemed to have focused but darker.
The man smiled, "How have you been Mari?"
Mari smiled, "Good as ever!"
Their eyes met and there was silence for a moment but Mari's expression went down as she sighed.
"Okay, I'm not keeping him." she said in defeat and turned around.
Wilrin stretched a smile as he followed inside.
"He haven't gone out for a day but when the food is ready, he would stay for a few minutes to gobble up everything." Mari said as she stopped on one of the rooms and knocked.
"John?" she called while Wilrin held his hands close. His face didn't show any expression but his eyes were already red.
After a few knocks without any answer, Mari checked the knob and was surprised, "Oh, it's open."
She stepped aside, "Looks like he wanted you to come yourself."
Wilrin heaved a relief as a nervous smile appeared on his face, "Thanks."
Wilrin then entered the room. The room was empty except for the bed on the side with a man curled up beneath the blanket, its figure shaping the whole blanket which made the longing on Wilrin's heart soothed. He took his gloves and placed it on the side table as he gently sat on the bed side and called for him, "John, I'm here."
But he didn't moved.
Wilrin took the rims of the blanket and carefully pulled it downward, his right finger showcased a ring around it and the moment the head was exposed, the surging emotions inside him resurfaced and he couldn't help but to cup John's cheek. The man was still fast asleep, the strands of his hair loose beautifully on his forehead as his stable breathing made his mouth slightly open which made Wilrin smi,le and took his jacket to cuddle close to him.
"Baby, I'm here." he whispered close to his ears then showered kisses on his ears to his neck and cheeks. There was then a movement from the person under him and when John opened his eyes, he saw the very familiar face right in front of him.
He blinked, "Wilrin?"
Wilrin then realized that his eyes were red and swollen as if he just cried the night out again, he felt his heart pierced into pieces as he pulled the man in a tight embrace.
"I arrived at the house earlier...and it's empty..." he muttered as his hold tightened, "I thought I lost you again."
John's eyes started to gather tears again as he hugged Wilrin back, "I'm sorry...miss you...I miss you..." he cried again.
Wilrin felt hurt and let John cried everything out on his arms.
This was not the first time John left the house without any message or reason.
In the past 8 years of their relationship, they lived together and got married. John had his career as a librarian after graduating while Wilrin became the most successful young CEO there is. His influence expanded as well as John's realization on things.
