Rhea Griffin
"Rhea if you don't fucking listen to me you are going to wish you were dead." My 'uncle' states.
"Really Jeffrey, I remember last time you said that you just got pissy then went to get drunk." I spat.
"Now listen here you little fuck the next time you disrespect me like that you'll get another fucking beating and this time I won't stop when you start crying."
End of Flashback
. . .
As me and Elysia were driving to get food I couldn't help to think back on one of the earlier memories with my uncle and aunt after my parents died. That was the last time I was going to let someone walk all over me so easily.
I didn't realize I zoned out until Elysia started waving her hands in front of my face.
"RHEAAA, ARE YOU THERE???" She started yelling.
"Yes, I just spaced out, oh my." I replied.
"Well we are here, one of the best spots in town, then again no where here is really that good, so in all honesty this food is just mediocre." I let out a light chuckle at this.
"I'm starving so even if it isn't amazing, I don't think I'll care much."
Once we ordered, me and Elysia found a table to sit at as we waited for our food. Just to my luck the three boys I ran into earlier walked into the restaurant. I groaned out loud, in turn receiving a confused stare from Elysia. Surprisingly fast the boys noticed me and immediately started walking towards us. Roman was the first to say something.
"Well, well, well, what a small world, what are the chances my new bestie is at the same place we're at?" he grins.
"Bestie?" Elysia questions.
"This is new to me." I pan.
Now I was really wishing I drove myself here, I should know better than to put myself into situations where I don't have an easy exit route. Thankfully, my name was called for my food, my saving grace. I walked up to grab it and walked straight to Elysia's 2022 Ford Bronco. God imagine if I had the money for a car that expensive. A few moments later Elysia comes out with her food and looks at me and says, "What the fuck was that?"
"Remember how I said I got hit by a door? It was those three."
"Oh my god, do you know who they are, Rhea? Obviously you don't, I can't believe you, oh my god." she freaks.
"What's the big deal about them?"
"WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?? OH MY GOD RHEA!" she exclaims "The big deal is they are the hottest and most popular people in the school and they don't associate with anyone other than themselves."
"And why does that affect me?"
"You, Rhea Griffin, are such a mystery..."
. . .
I needed to make some money, I've had limited funding since leaving, but I chose this town for a reason. They were known for their underground fighting, it's a big thing where surrounding cities come to this town to bet on fighters, and there was a fight tonight that I needed to make it too.
I wore a simple hoodie, pants, and of course a black mask. I've been competing in fights since I was 15, I needed to find a way to make money and fend for myself. I lost the majority of my initial fights, but I found I was surprisingly good at taking beatings. You can thank my uncle for teaching me that.
I hopped on my bike and found my way to the place, a few days ago I drove down here to scope out possible exit routes along with an area where I can park my bike and an entrance where I will be unnoticed. It was a pretty large place which is why I'm surprised many normal people in the town do not know about it.
There was already a large crowd entering the building, as I passed people, hardly anyone paid attention to me. The goal was to go unnoticed, because the more people who knew nothing about me would bet against me, which would result in more money for me, and the more I won the better the people I'd go up against, which means more money at stake.
I entered myself into three fights for tonight, not that many but if I win them all it will be enough money for a while. I watched a few fighters while I waited my turn, a lot of them were pretty good, but also all mediocre fights that are not worth a lot of money.
"For our next fight we will have a new comer 'STORM', up against one of the regulars Phil AKA 'LIGHTS OUT'" The announcer stated.
I saw an average sized man who looked like he had a big ego walk into the ring, I waited a second to enter so I could size up my competition, he seemed to be decently fast with a semi-strong hit. Which meant I needed to be faster with better technique. But in all reality his name is Phil so it shouldn't be too hard to win this. My delay was met with the announcer once again calling my stage name.
I take that as my queue to step into the ring, 'Lights out' laughed at me and loudly stated "HAH This is who you guys paired me up with? He will be out or forfeiting in a second" The crowd roared and cheered at this. Cockiness ruins people and this guy was about to be ruined.
"Boxers get ready, your fight will begin in 3... 2... 1..." The announcer cheered.
My hood was up so people didn't necessarily know I was a woman but it wouldn't be hard to assume. I have just found in the fighting world people would rather first assume I'm a smaller sized man rather than admitting I was a woman who could fight. Just like I expected Phil was cocky and immediately came barreling towards me with his fists flying, I scoffed, this was going to be easy.
I avoided his first couple hits and tried to tire him out before I started fighting back. He got tired quite quickly so it was my chance to start hitting. I throw a few hits all landing directly in the face, Phil stumbles back not expecting that before he starts lunging at me again. He lands one on my right shoulder but with a lot less energy than his initial swings. He stumbles after missing me, which opens my chance to hit him directly across the face breaking his nose and knocking him out cold.
"This took an unexpected turn..." The announcer states "Storm takes the win, he will be competing in two more fights tonight so stick around and see what he's made of." Some people start cheering while others are booing. My next two fights are both easier opponents than Phil was, so I had a quick night and went to collect my money immediately so I didn't have to stay here any longer.
I won a total of 5,000$ tonight which will be good enough until the next fight where I will have a chance to make more money because now my name is going around. I subtly slip out of the building and make my way home before I draw more attention towards myself.
