Rhea Griffin
Asher looks fucking annoyed. I knew this was a bad idea coming here, I cant let anyone else get close to me. It always ends in the same thing.
Someone gets hurt.
Usually it's me.
Aiden taught me that lesson.
I don't know what Aiden is saying to Asher but it's obvious he's trying to get on Asher's nerves. I should leave. This would be a lot worse if Aiden recognized me. As I was standing up Elysia turns to me, "What are you doing?" she asks "The game has barely started you can't leave."
"Uhh, okay, I'll stay for a little longer." I groaned and sat back down, I realized she was right. The game has just started and if I walk out now there would be some attention towards me.
From there on the game goes pretty well, it's basically just a back and forth between Aiden and Asher, except Asher's doing better. The buzzer signaling halftime just went off, and they'll have a 10 minute break before the second half starts. The score is 32-28 in our team's favor right now.
"I have to leave." I say to Elysia and try to walk out as sneakily as possible. She looks at me confused and says, "Girl, what the fuck are you doing?"
"I'll text you later." I mumble and leave. With my luck Asher sees me walking out, and decides to follow.
"Rhea. Rhea!" he yells "Where are you going?"
"You're doing great Asher, I have to go though."
"Please don't leave"
"Asher..."
"This is one of our biggest games, Rhea, the other team is on our tail. You're my good luck charm. Please stay"
"I can't be that. I'm sorry, I can't do this. You're a great person, and you're amazing at basketball but I can't be that person you want me to be. I have to leave."
"Stop Rhea, just fucking stop, all you try to do is push me away. I know you like me, just let me fucking in. Stop trying to fucking push me away."
"That's where you're wrong. I don't like you Asher, just leave me alone." I dryly laugh. "Have a good game, I have to leave." he's standing there with a look of betrayal written across his face, and my heart breaks a little more for him. I walk away before he could say anything else, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
I hop on my bike and just ride away without sparing a glance back.
. . .
My knuckles are bloodied and beaten, my eyes are puffy and red. For the past 2 hours I've just repeatedly hit almost everything in my apartment, it started with a wall and ended with continuous hard and violent punches towards my punching bag.
It's a way to escape my mind, usually I wrap my hands to limit the scars on my knuckles but my mind was too clouded for that. I pushed away the one person that may actually be good for me.
With that in mind I continued my assault on the bag, my hands were becoming bare, my arms were getting tired, and my eyes have been ran dry. My phone suddenly rang interrupting my punching. I walk over to my phone and see that Elysia is calling. "Hello," I say in the most normal voice I could muster.
"First of all, are you okay?" she asks "You sound dead."
"I'm good, I went for a run."
"Oh my god, you run? I love running. We should go running together," she beams "anyways, that's besides the point that's not why I called you. Did you see Asher? He walked out after you left, and when he came back in he looked miserable. I mean he still won the game, obviously, but he was off and we only one because Roman made a shot right before the buzzer. We won by one point." She says "What I'm trying to get at is, I'm so confused on what happened with him because I've never seen him like that. Did you see anything when you left?"
