1 week after the drive in movie

Nicole's POV

Business was slow surprisingly and Robin put me in charge of inventory which meant I was in the back and allowed to listen to music on my walkman. I took out my cassette and flipped it to the other side to listen to more songs.

"Girls they wanna have fun, Oh girls just want to have fun"

I started bopping my head to the music using a banana as a microphone to sing along with Cyndi Lauper. It was fun being on inventory I don't know why Steve hates it so much.

"Is some fuunn-"

"Nice moves Ms.Jones"

"Steve! you startled me. Where's Robin?"

"On her break just came back here for some bananas?"

"Of course"

Nicole smiled and handed Steve some bananas and went back to checking in the items on the list Robin had prepared for her. Steve laughed to himself about how cute Nicole's actions were and went back to behind the counter.

Just then a group of kids started ringing on the bell on the counter repeatedly, Nicole wondered what the fuss was about and peeked through the window seeing Steve talking to a group of 4 kids.

"Come on Steve just this once" A tall kid said with a pleading tone which the rest of the followed and Steve reluctantly agreed and let them into the back room where Nicole was humming along still to the same song.

She looked up seeing 4 tweens staring at her, 3 boys and a girl who gave her an awkward smile as Nicole looked up at Steve to see if he was going to explain who they were.

Steve walked to the back where they receive their shipments from and told them some directions and all of them walked in a line thanking him on the way.

"Yeah yeah and remember-"

"We won't get caught!" their voices cut off Steve before he could finish his sentence, causing him to put his hands on his hips in annoyed way.

"Children these days!" Steve joked around with Nicole before Robin busted into the back room.

"I leave you two dinguses together and you throw a party in the back, well guess what there's a line right outside those doors Harrington! and they are waiting on you!"

"Wow Robin you just called Nicole a dingus" Steve said mockingly clutching onto his heart walking past Robin to go behind the counter. Robin watched him leave and then sat in front of Nicole at the metal table.

"I was doing my job the entire time" Nicole said putting her hands up in the air as if she was going to get arrested making Robin laugh a little and then continue eating her lunch.

After a few minutes of silence Nicole spoke to the girl in front of her.

"So I was taking a walk around yesterday you know just for fun- anyway I saw this arcade and was wondering if you wanted to go with me?" Nicole said looking down at the paper checking in products for inventory.

"Are you asking me out?"

Nicole looked up seeing Robin raise her eyebrows at the girl as if saying "am i wrong?" causing her face to heat up again.

"Well yeah, sort of to you know hang out, as friends!"

Robin put down her sandwich and just nodded saying that she hasn't been to the arcade in a while so she wouldn't mind.

"Perfect! how about today?"

"Works for me"

Robin finished her lunch standing up giving Nicole an awkward smile walking to where Steve was. Nicole felt weird for adding the "as friends" part. Why else would they hang out as anything more.
