The crowd continued to applaud around James as he frantically gazed over the room. He moved towards the direction everyone was focused on.

As he broke through, he stopped dead in his tracks. There in front of him stood Lena and ... August? August?!

August held Lena's arm guiding her toward the stage and helped her walk up the small staircase to her fathers side. August and Lena stood together, aside her father as the crowd cheered and applauded even louder. James couldn't understand what was going on.

James had distanced himself from August some, but they still hung out occasionally. He never brought up Lena, or what happened. James still blamed August for what happened to her. Yet, he couldn't believe that August stood up there next to her, and ... holding her hand?

*What the actual fu-* James thoughts were interrupted when Lena began to speak. She spoke slow and low. Yet her voice captivated the entire room, "Thank you, for accepting this generous donation from my father... I hope that others in your hospitals get to experience the great team of doctors and nurse that saved my life. I want everyone to enjoy tonight, thank you."

After another round of applause, the councilmen stated a few more things, but James hadn't listened. Instead he zoned in on August and Lena leading there way off the stage, and back towards the tables they must have been sitting at prior.

It really turned James when he saw August smiling as he whispered something in Lena's ear and she responded with a giggle and that gorgeous smile of hers. James began to head towards the table when suddenly an arm spun him around.

"James, I have been speaking to you for the past five minutes! What the hell! What's going on?!" Amanda was fuming. James stumbled on his words, " I- It's ... well, Lena- I-," he tried to explain.

"I want to go home!" Amanda suddenly snapped. She crossed her arms over her chest and huffed. James tried to focus on her. But his mind was racing a million miles per hour. "NOW!" Amanda demanded, finally snapping James back to their conversation.

James thought for a moment, he then narrowed his eyes at Amanda. "We'll go when I'm ready. Otherwise find another ride." James snarled. He turned to search for Lena again.

The last thing he hear her say was, "Screw you James! We're done!" which caused him to turn and look at her again. "Amanda, that's the best thing I've heard come out of your mouth these past months." With that James turned again and began striding over to Lena's table.

He struggled to reach her as people attempted to stop him to say hello, or offer him food. He noticed paparazzi had begun taking photos.

Damn Amanda had to go make a big deal of a breakup, groaned James internally.

Finally he was a few steps away from Lena's table when August spotted him. In almost a defensive position, he stood between James and Lena.

"Hey, how's it-" he was cut of by James, pushing him to the side slightly to get a few view of the still sitting Lena.

She looked stunning, her dark red spaghetti strap dress flooded around her while she sat. James couldn't help but notice how her tan leg peaked through the slit that seemed uncomfortably to high in his opinion. The top of the dress clung in all the right spots, that exposed much of her cleavage, it took everything for James to meet her eyes.

When he did she found a familiarity to her small sparking blue eyes. So deep, he could get lost in them. He noticed her mouth had moved but he hadn't hear what she said. Finally out of his daze he came too asking, "what?"

"I said hi, are you one of my dad's friends?" Lena said raising an eyebrow purely out of distaste for being ignored. "No, Lena it's me," James said motioning towards himself.

Lena stared at him a moment to long until she responded, "right, me... nice to meet you. I'm Lena," not before leaning to the side a little to gaze past James at August.

He was still trying to get back by James who seemed to have Lena blocked off from anyone. "Excuse me could you move so my boyfriend can come back to me?" Lena sighed clearly annoyed at the situation.

James felt his ears bleed. The words that had just slipped from those beautiful red lips, floated into his ears and stuck him like a knife to the chest.

"B-boyfriend?" James asked hands tightening in a fist slightly.

In an instant, August was again somehow between them, his eyes tried to hold James's, but failed as James looked between the two of them.

After what seemed like the longest time, August finally replied, "yeah, I'm her boyfriend," he gleamed, grabbing her hand.

"August do you know him?" Lena leaned in to whisper, failing to be quiet enough not to be heard.

"KNOW HIM? Know him? Lena, I knew him before you did!" James growled.

Lena tightened her grip on August hand. "Can we go? I'll tell my dad-" she began.

August just shook his head. "She lost her memory dude, she doesn't remember you."

The words weight down on his soul like bricks falling from the sky. She doesn't remember you.

Doesn't.
Remember.
You.

James let out a forced laugh. "Yeah right! Quit playing games you guys, really had me there for a minute," James said reaching for Lena.

She moved back from his reach. Something of fear shown in her eyes. And James retreated. "You- you don't remember me?" He searched for something.

Anything. That would tell him this was a cruel joke.

That she still loved him like he loved her. How she still felt the kiss they had shared. But there was nothing. Not a hint of recognition.

"Lena I-" James began, but before he could finish she had stood up and pulled August away toward the exit doors. She replied over her shoulder, "I'm sorry, have a goodnight," and gave him a small smile.
