So now that we know about what the benefits are to online publishing, let's look at why we might not want to dip our toes into these waters.
This is a bit of a sore point for me. As someone who genuinely was ready to leave their childhood dreams behind, to set up shop permanently as an online published author, these things have really destroyed any sense of security I had regarding said plans.
Alas, I will try to be as informative, and non-emotional as I can.

Pretty self explanatory when you think about it.Here's a conversation I am sick to death of having:
I've got one word for you.
Cringe.
I'm so tired of having this conversation, especially since so much of Wattpad is legitimate works, fiction and otherwise. Not only can it be quite wholesome (thus why so many people read without admitting to it - I'm looking at you, A03 readers), but the entertainment value is present. That is why these sites exist to begin with.
I don't care if there's fanfiction there or not. I'm tired of the stigma these sites have attached to them, and the negative image it gives authors/artists who publish there. How are people supposed to learn if they don't start somewhere, and who the hell is Jo Blo from down the road to have a say on someone else's choices? People think I'm lying when I say I started learning Japanese on Wattpad.
