The "being" was on top of him. He felt he had no chance of survival, this creature, would rip him apart. As the rain came down. Down. Down. He clenched his teeth, for the "being" make the bite that would end his life, but it did not come. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared from behind some boxes in the corner. The beam shot out, and hit the unsuspecting "being", lodging into the spikes along its metal spine. It twisted and jolted, trying to free the flair, and it's color went everywhere. Rising onto its hind legs, it spun around, towards the source of the colorful missile. He saw that the girl.....the same one he had nearly killed, was saving his life. The "being" pressed itself low to the ground, and lunged in the direction of the girl. Her face, full of surprise, and fear, and her hair, slicked back on her head, from the rain falling down. Down. Down. She ran out, the "being" hot on her tail. He kept up, and out of instinct, grabbed his pocket knife, and chased the "being" and young Sarah, who's legs would tire soon, and the creature would pounce on the young girl.

He ran out the door, into the rain, coming down. Down. Down. He ran after the "being", as fast as he could, trying to draw the "being's" attention to himself, instead of Sarah. He ran quickly across the field. Once they began nearing Sarah's home, he began to slow down, his sides aching from the long run. He watched as sarah swung her backdoor, and slam it. The "being", confused paced around her house for a good long hour. Noble watched from the feild. Then, the "being", gave up, and began rushing towards him. As the creature neared, he ducked into some undergrowth, and the creature passed right by him. After the creature was out of sight, he stood up, and walked towards the home of sarah, but he saw no car in the garage. Thinking her mother wasn't home, he began coming closer.

He went around to the front of the house, and hesitantly knocked on the front door. At first there was no answer, but after five minutes, and three more knocks, the door opened. Sarah, her long brown hair around her shoulders, and her brown eyes, full of fear and bewilderment.
'hello', she said softly.

'hi, I'm Nobel, that guy who....tried to kill you that one time,' he explained, 'but you just saved my life, and im sorry for almost killing you, my bad.'
'It was you...' she said, shocked, 'what were you doing in there? You could have been killed!' She asked, her voice rising, to a mad, and hysterical state.

'Well I think i could ask you the same question.' He justified.
'That is none of your business...' she said.
'It is too, you just saved me..' he tried reasoning with the young girl.

'Well you're welcome, but don't expect me to do it again...' she said, frustrated.
'And why not?' He asked, trying to lighten the mood. She looked at him for a good long time before she spoke, 'because you shouldn't have been in there in the first place, that thing almost ripped yoy apart!'

'Why are you so mad?' He asked, curiously.

'no reason, I didn't almost get killed or anything...' she said in a sarcastic tone.

'You dont like it here, do you?' He asked, motioning to the home, and the feild. Sarah was surprised, how did he know?
'No,' she admitted, 'but up have to live here.' She reluctantly explained.

'Why?' He asked, getting more into her story.

' Because my mom got a job here, big deal, and the neighbors have guns..' she said, obviously meaning him.

' Well we could leave.' He said, ' I hate this small town.'

'Im not going to skip town with you, you nearly killed me! Not to mention I barely know you...'  she said, matter-o-factly.

'Why not?' He asked, eager to get an answer.
'I just told you!' She snapped.

'Ll you have a bike?' He asked, changing the subject.

'Re...but what does that have to do with anything?' She asked.

'Good, tomorrow, come to my house, at dawn, and we'll leave this place'
'I just told you, im not leaving.'
'Come on, we will leave, and find food, and scavenge and-'
'I am not leaving and that is final!'

Feeling like he hadn't accomplished what he was after, he finnaly got to the point. ' don't you wanna know what that thing was? Doesn't that interest you a little?'

Sarah thought about the question for a good long time, running it through in her head.

' yes, but I'm not leaving worth you.' She said, defiantly.

' tomorrow, dawn, my house, if you change your mind.' Noble persisted.

'are you deaf? I said-' but Noble was turning away, and walking down of the porch. She watched him go, she felt curiosity creep throughout her. As he disappeared over the hill, and out of sight, she ran around into the kitchen, drenched in grey light, and went out the side door.
