The question as always when you learn new information is, how do you use it. When I first got my superpowers, every day was about new information. New skills, new ways to see the world.
Then I became a supervillain, and suddenly my world was big and dangerous. For three children, okay ten including the Toybox, the biggest threat was always the adults. Facing Charlie in a street battle, where he'd been ill prepared. Then beating him down at a football match had shown me early on that most kids don't prepare for the worst.
The incident between Alinta and the Original (Pain in the butt) was just more proof of this. My little band of would-be supervillains was expanding and honestly, completely outside my control. I had to process new information.
We spent the rest of the meeting discussing Alinta's legs, Alinta herself while not a mad scientist, was a mad mathematician and fully thought she could come back from a de-limbing. We talked, her, Raven and myself for the rest of the day about material types, construction and design and in a fit of mad science I managed to build several completely self contained servos that would let her new legs move in weird ways.
The hard part would be syncing that up with magic, and while my superpower insisted magic was just science in another skin, it didn't work well with said power.
Our group split up with homework. Ray was going to meet up with Marcia, aka Miss A, the sidekick of the original. They had recently started training together at some secret set of classes Ray was taking, that he wouldn't explain to me.
Raven and I would collaborate on the Alinta issue. Claire and Garfield had their own separate thing, which apparently involved lawyers and our favourite chaotic neutral villainess, Lucifar.
"Look, it's nothing to worry about. Lucy has been a friend of the family since mother was, well. New to the Industry". Claire had been explaining while I built. "The incident with the Original just has the attention of some of the older villains. They want to make a move, and since Alinta was working for us when it happened, they want me on board!"
I had scowled at this, even in the middle of a creative fit. This wasn't one of those 'rant and rave' kind of fits. Instead, if recordings showed evidence correctly it was an 'autistic' style fit, with grunts, occasional incoherent yells and demands of "This Now!"
This time however I heard enough through the fit, with Garfield being the loyal minion to helped me rearrange my tools, that I completely stopped mid construction as I built.
"Garf. I need you to go with Claire. Don't let her argue, if anything happens that you yourself are not cool with. Not her, that YOU aren't cool with. Feel free to murder people!" With a glance up at the green skinned boy, he went to speak then completely stopped. Stared at my face, then nodded.
I looked around to see if Claire had noticed, and she had. Breathing, I pretended to be still in the trance, realized I'd lost the blue-print for what I'd been building and spoiled the effect by going to the hologram, bringing up what I'd done for the previous one, then proceeded to try and copy it. A practical demonstration of the tech's purpose.
"Garf, Penny is just worried that I'm not ready. I'll be safe, and I'll be with people I know!"
"Claire, my dear dear dear friend. We grew up in a crib together. I know your idea of safe." we met eyes, before I went back to building. "Please just respect this is coming from me?"
That conversation had dropped quietly before the group split up. I initially agreed to chat with Raven once I got home, over the internet. Brainstorm, save the mad science for the next day. I biked home from the lab to find my household in disarray.
