*... sitting in a quiet room, I hear nothing but the sounds of my heart beating through my chest. The room is dark and has an ironically beautiful touch to me almost like deja vu. Feeling the sweat drip down my neck, I try not to look at the beast beside me. I find I have no choice but to turn my heavy head and look at the elephant in the room...*
soooo guyss, it's been like what *looks down at nonexistent watch on my wrist* I don't know,... a couple of months?... I'm sorry that things ended that way and at such a point in the story, from now on I will try my best to finish strong with this story :)
Bentley POV
My nerves are down to the wire. Even though it has not been long since Kerra went missing, it feels like it's been a century. Kerra's dad, Liam, started to set up camp on the dining room table and make a few phone calls. Gaia does the same, both in hushed tones which doesn't make me feel any better.
I step out to make a phone call of my own, needing to talk to my beta and see how things are going. It's been a couple of months since I've been with my pack, however, only now am I feeling those effects.
Pacing is the only thing helping me think. Ryder went back to his lab to do whatever Ryder does, Elliot has gone to the library to read more of the book that was found, something to keep him calm.
I stop pacing when Liam gets off the phone. He rounds the kitchen breakfast bar and makes his way back to the kitchen table. We have a map set up but we don't think she will be anywhere around here.
I feel so useless in this whole endeavor. How could we possibly find her if we don't even know what we are looking at? Dread settles into my stomach, my wolf is also pacing around in my head. Constantly mumbling about taking her home.
I hear a door slam and see Gaia walking towards us with a purpose; a grin on her face. She also rounds the breakfast bar and places her phone down on the table.
"I've got it. One of my distant family members told me exactly what we are looking for here. She said this is a very dangerous portal, one not seen in centuries." She starts to write on one of the whiteboards we found in the house all that her family member told her.
In the middle of all the writing, the word 'underworld' is what stands out to me. It strikes me as odd seeing I didn't know there was an underworld, but I'm only a werewolf so what would I know about it.
Elliot has also made his way to the kitchen with the book in hand flipped to a page deep in the book. He must have something good with such a shit eater grin on his face.
"I've found it. It's a portal to the underworld not used in years." He looks to all of us smirking, only for Gaia to smack him in the back of the head. Looking up confused he looks at her already pointing her finger at the whiteboard.
His ego physically deflated.
I got a little chuckle out of it but focused on the board again. What could the underworld want with Kerra? I ponder more on it before Gaia leaves the room again to make some phone calls.
I leave the other two at the table and make my way into the garage to talk to Ryder. Making my way down the stairs I can see Ryder tinkering with stuff. I can also see where he's thrown a fit, colorful, neon splashes are all over the walls and floors.
It's a wonder he doesn't hurt himself in the mix-up of this stuff.
"Ryder, we need you up top. We've got something." I yell as loud as I can over the jamming music, something he says he needs for focus. He seems to hear me though and takes off the mask.
I leave before him and walk into the kitchen at the same time as Gaia. She waits for Ryder before breaking the news.
"I've called in backup. Since we know we are dealing with the underworld I've called all the best necromancers I could think of. They will be here shortly since I've told them what happened. You all can call whoever we need, I know you all have the best of the best waiting at your word." She takes a breath before continuing, I can hear her heart pumping. She's terrified for her child.
"For now we need to plan a way to get there with the necromancers and a way to fight the people of the underworld. Only one person can open that portal and that is the King." We nod at her in understanding and get to work calling our people.
I call back to my pack again. "Sarah, get Payton on the phone. It's a code red here." That's all I needed to tell my sister and she knew what to do. I texted her the address of the house and hoped they made it here in time.
Kerra POV
I could feel my cheek swelling. I'd been brought to this empty sitting area and tided down to the chair, only for them to leave me in here alone. It's been a couple of hours since then and all I can think about is how this is some kind of sick game to me.
I know they want me to break down in tears, crying, begging, and I won't let them see it. On the inside, though I feel all those emotions, and fear for my three at home. They must be pissed and worried for me. If only I didn't read that stupid book.
Looking around the room again, I don't really see anything of use to get me out of here. The room is very bland with not much color other than hues of brown and some blue. Looking out the windows it seems to be night again. I'm not sure how the day and night cycle is here.
The door creaks open and in walks the same old man and his two goons. He has a smile on his face that doesn't match well with the scowl on mine.
"You are one tuff cookie, yes you are. I've left you in here for say... about four hours and not a peep has been made." He only tisks at me again and sits in the chair in front of me, still adorning the smile.
When I don't say anything he takes it as his turn to speak again. I think he likes to hear himself speak.
