We tried our best to put on a smiling face as he led me through the corridors to my room.
We would occasionally bump into guests along the way and he would pause to greet them.
I on the other hand was still far too affected by what had just happened a few moments ago, to offer much other than a smile.
I found myself anxious to get back to my room to change, knowing that Eleanor would always find a way to put me in a good mood.
We found her standing in the hallway in front of the room, talking to one of Zack's cousins - Jeremiah if I remembered correctly.
She was looking at him with her big brown eyes, seemingly very focused on what he was saying, and her fingers were fiddling with an unruly strand of hair that had escaped from under her headwear.
Jeremiah seemed different from the first time I had seen him.
He was leaning against the wall on the opposite side of the door, a boyish smile on his face as he spoke.
I didn't have the heart to break up their conversation and I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for them as Zack carelessly interrupted them.
He cleared his throat before he spoke, a certain underlying tone of be careful in his voice.
"I need you down in the main hall, Jer'. Immediately.. And Eleanor, I trust you take good care of Stella and get her ready for the event as quickly as possible. I wouldn't want her to miss a thing"
Both of them reacted instantly.
The men went down to the main hall and Eleanor quickly dragged me into the bedroom to get me ready.
Neither of them seemed too bothered by the interruption, although there seemed to be just a hint on Jeremiah's face as he left. I was more focused on Zack's last words and kept replaying them in my head as if to find some hidden meaning behind them. Maybe he really didn't want me to miss out on anything, but maybe - just maybe, there was an underlying reason for his hurry. I shook my head lightly and snapped out of it, just as Eleanor went to pick out a dress for me to wear.
For once I couldn't have agreed more with her choice as she brought out a gorgeous red fitted dress, with a daringly plunged neckline that showed off just a little more skin that may have been appropriate for this event.
To make it even more scandalous it had not one, but two slits that would show off my legs whenever I walked and this only made me love it even more.
I suppose this was her way of getting revenge on Zack's rude interruption earlier, and I was more than glad to flaunt it to him. To my slight disappointment, I couldn't get away with wearing sneakers under the dress this evening, but I had to admit that the black heels she brought out for me, took the entire look to a whole new level.
I couldn't help but smirk confidently as I looked at myself in the mirror.
"You have truly outdone yourself Ellie. I love it!"
She smiled mischievously and lowered her head slightly as she replied, well aware that I knew why she had picked out an outfit like this.
"I'm glad you like it. I felt like perhaps something from this decade would be a little more appropriate"
We both chuckled at her remark, knowing that Zack likely wouldn't like her choice one bit.
This only made me more eager to join the party and I almost couldn't sit still on the chair as she was doing my hair.
