As you made you way up to your old room in the institute - you and Jace had decided to share a room because of your relationship - to collect some of your old things that you forgot when you moved you essentials into his room, you were just leaving when you got a zap going down the length of your right arm, it was a painful zap but not one you couldn't handle, it was a warning from your protection rune, you'd made it a few days after you arrived at the institute, it was meant to give of a sharp warning when someone you knew and cared for was in danger or was hurt, you made it also give you an idea of who it was that need your help, in this case it was Alec, of all people he was the one person you really didn't want to go and help, over the past week since Alec had threatened you, he had been giving you dirty looks and just in general making you fell uncomfortable and mainly unwelcome, but if you didn't the zap in your arm would only get worse, so out of reluctance, you went down to the main door and gathered your weapons and gear, when you walked out to the door and onto the street, you already had an invisibility rune on but you added a tracking rune onto the back of your hand while holding on of his knives. As you closed your eyes, a picture of him and a greater demon came into focus, Alec was laying on the floor with blood covering his gear, the greater demon was hovering over him but it seemed to just be talking to him... strange you thought who would think a demon would talk to a shadow hunter before killing him or her.

(warning, goory stuff coming up)

The place that Alec was at wasn't far from the institute so you ran in the direction they seemed to be, after turning a few corners and down a few roads you finally reached the dog park where Alec still laid but this time the greater demon head is are reared up as he was about to strike at Alec. You rushed over as fast as you could and while running towards them you pulled out your seraph blade, you jumped onto the greater demons back and drove the blade straight trough its head, its acid blood spraying every where, all over you and Alec's gear, the demon didn't seem to want to give up fighting and it thrashed around with you still on his head causing the gash in its head to worsen and more acid blood cover you arms and side of your face. After a few minuets of it's screeching and thrashing, it finally died and disappeared, you fell to the floor by Alec, he had already applied a healing rune to his arm but you burns were still alive and were now blistering, it hurt like hell. Alec rushed over to you and drew a healing rune quickly on your arm, the burns on you arms healed with some miner scaring but one look at Alec and you could tell that the same had not happened to your face, you dreaded the worse.

"A.. Alec? Why are you looking at me like that?!" you asked, panic slowly rising in you voice

"Er...(y/n) we need to get you back to the institute, you will want to see this" Alec replied with sadness in his own voice, now you were getting extremely worried, what does he see? do I look like a monster? what will the others think? what will Jace think!? these thoughts kept running through your head as you headed back to the institute with Alec. When you got there, there was no body in sight so Alec dragged you to the nearest bathroom and stood you in front of the mirror... what you saw shocked and saddened you. You had a burn scar running the length from the corner of you eye to the top of your ear, it was hideous to say the least, though the healing rune had lessoned the swelling and turned the pink tinge to your normal skin colour, it was still very noticeable and ugly.

You turned to Alec and he had guilt written on his face, he thought it was his fault!

"Alec... don't blame yourself for this, its my fault, I'm the one who came out to save you and my actions that caused me to have this scar" you said

"I will never live this down, but (y/n) thank you for saving me, I was wrong to try and keep you and Jace apart, I realise that now you are right for him, just please, don't hurt him, he's my best friend, I couldn't see him heart broken" he said

"I wont I promise"

"Thank you... again" he smiled at you and you smiled back, when you left the bathroom you went down the hall to Jace's room and knocked softly, he opened the door to you and engulfed you in a hug so tight you released a tear for the relationship you could loose in just a few seconds. When he released you he started to say how much he missed you and was worried that something had happen but stopped mid sentence when he saw the scar, you held you breath as he assed you face, when he was done he looked you in the eye and said only two words: "tell me"

Just like before, you couldn't hold in the truth and told him every detail as he lead you into his room and sat you on his bed, when you were finished he just looked at you,

"say something Jace" you whisper hoping you haven't throne away this relationship

"(y/n), I don't know what you were worried about, your just as beautiful as when I first saw you, you always have been and always will be, no scar will break my love for you because it is ever lasting, to me you have no imperfections just beauty that shines so brightly. Don't ever doubt my love for you" he said, speaking with such power and sureness that there left no room for you to deny what he said

"Jace I love you so much" you were so speechless, that it was all you could say, so you did what any girlfriend would do. You kissed him.

~the rest is up to you~

Hope you enjoyed this chapter, lots of love from me :D xx
