"Where are we going Sasha?" The vibrations from the car distorting her voice, her brown curls flying in the breeze as she turned her eyes to the road, watching the signs fly past as she tried to read them "Terri's lab" the blonde yelled over the sound of the lashing wind and sound of the convertible, her hands gripping the wheel, taking a right, "How do you know where her lab is from memory?" pitched Marcy from the back, leaning forward to join in the conversation "Well...I might have been working on something with her" she scratched the back of her neck with her free hand, keeping her eyes on the road as she took another turn "What do you mean?" An accusing tone framing Anne's words as she eyed the other girl suspiciously "We might have been working on a...portal" Sasha tensed up then sighed, letting her shoulders fall with the escape of breath, "Sasha!" Groaned Marcy and Anne in unison as they both slumped back into their seats in disappointment, "What? You would do the same!" argued Sasha, "Sure, but the point is we didn't, we don't belong their Sasha" retorted Anne, sighing. Marcy leaned forward, placing a warm hand on Sasha's shoulder "Your heart was in the right place" She smiled, helping calm the blonde down as she slowly parked the car.
A large building towered over them, casting a shadow over them from the afternoon sun, windows scattered all over the building, the staff bustling around inside. A sudden slam catching Sasha off guard as Anne, who was still in her work uniform, and Marcy got out of the car and began walking to the entrance, Sasha trailing behind. A familiar blue haired girl met them at the glass doors, opening them and signalling them inside, suspiciously looking around as if to see if anyone was following them, she turned back to the girls and pulled them inside, taking them to her lab through a series of look-alike hallways.
The three girls followed Terri through the door, machinery of all kinds scattered around, but what caught Anne's attention first was the familiar machine right in the centre, the machine that her and the Plantars had used to get back to Amphibia. Putting her hand up she stroked the hard cold metal, her reflection warped in the iron as she stared in awe at the machine. She could hear Terri and Sasha conversing behind her "The only thing we're missing is the energy needed to operate the portal, last time Anne used her calamity powers, do you think she could do it again?",
"I-" Sasha began before getting cut off by Anne "It's been a while, but I could try" she turned around to face them, the anger from before being replaced with excitement, after all these years she would finally get to see the Plantars again, she would get to see her best friend Sprig and how much he's grown, she would get to tell him about her new job and everything that ahd happened to her in the past years, she would get to see Polly, who by now would have fully grown legs, and of course Hop-pop, who was like a second father, or more like grandfather, to her, he took care of her when she had no place else and cared about her as if he actually were her grandfather, admitting that he had seen her as his own granddaughter after her time in Amphibia, surely they hadn't forgotten about her, polly had been young but it was an important time in her life and she was sure Sprig and Hop-pop would never let her forget. She couldn't wait to go back.
"Anne, I don't know if that's such a great idea" Protective girlfriend mode activated as Sasha walked over and placed her hand on the other girls shoulder, sending a shiver down her spine from the sudden cold emitting from her hand "Sasha's right, you're the only one of us who still has her powers and they were very draining, how will they affect you now?",
"There's no other way" She shrugged off Sasha's hand, leaving a look of betrayal upon her face, she just wanted Anne to be safe, did she not understand that? She silently groaned to herself as she watched Anne expectantly.
Anne planted her feet in the floor, spreading them apart for better balance, she closed her eyes and held her hands in a fist on her side, the silence of the room giving her space to think and feel, open up her senses and allow herself to surrender to anger, knowing it was the feeling that fuelled her when she was younger, though nearly impossible when there was nothing to be angry about "Someone make me angry" She opened her eyes, staring around the room for anything to be of use before feeling a sudden pressure on her cheek, a feeling of something soft and supple casing multiple hard spheres that were lodged just beneath her cheek bone as the velocity of the object collided with her cheek, causing her to fall backwards. Warm familiar arms wrapped around her body seconds before she fell to the floor "Marcy!" She heard Sasha call out in anger from behind her, "Sorry Anne!" She heard Marcy call out as Sasha lifted her up "You okay?" she asked, grabbing a tissue from Terri and wiping the blood that Anne hadn't noticed her nose was leaking, but the brunette quickly pulled away from Sasha's grasp, turning away as she felt a sudden anger at the girl bubble up inside, she wasn't a child anymore, she didn't need Sasha to stand up for her, she wasn't mad at Marcy for punching her, rather surprised but also proud, she was mad at Sasha if anything, she had to stop treating her like a child, "Anne?" She heard Marcy call her name, she turned around and she noticed the girls expression abruptly change when they made eye contact "Anne, your eyes!" She called out cheerily as Anne looked to the machine, she looked at her reflection and her reflection looked back, showing that her eyes had gone from dark brown to neon blue, "We did it! Yes! Yes!" Marcy began to dance around the room, tripping over herself in the last second, falling at Anne's feet who helped her up, "We're going back to Amphibia!" Sasha celebrated behind her before noticing Anne's tense expression, she was trying her hardest to not make eye contact with the blonde as she asked her what was wrong "Nothing" She shrugged off before moving towards the closed door "We should probably pack" she offered in a sharp tone before opening and closing the door behind her, not daring to look back as she made her way outside, "Okay, there is definitely something up" Sasha perceived as she followed Anne outside, Marcy not far behind.
The two girls made their way out into the daylight, looking over to Sasha's convertible where a disgruntled Anne sat, staring directly ahead towards the building, not even noticing the girls walk outside. The sudden sound of the car opening caught Anne off guard, causing her to emerge from whatever mind-space she had been in and sit up in the passenger seat, still observing the building, not willing to face Sasha, whom she was still rather furious with, "Are you sure you're, okay?" she asked while placing a warm hand on Anne's thigh, who, in respond, just nodded and moved away from the girls touch, leaving a bewildered Sasha to begin the car and be consumed with over-whelming thoughts, all of which had run through her mind millions of times before, thoughts of Anne and whether the girl would ever share her feelings, she had thought these disoriented beliefs had receded when the two had finally shared their kiss and confessed their feelings, but Anne was making it difficult to keep these contemplations confined to the back of her mind. Sasha's feelings of self-hatred beginning to bubble up and threaten to burst out just as it had in the past, not ending pretty when it would happen. What had she done wrong? Maybe it wasn't her, maybe Anne is just scared to go back to Amphibia, they did have some grisly memories, including her and Marcy dying and not to forget the multiple times she had betrayed them, maybe she thinks she hasn't changed, maybe the only reason she kissed Sasha was out of pity for the girl.
Sasha dropped Marcy at her grandmas, quickly packing her bags and then making their way to Sasha's where Anne had a bag packed ready to go.
As they walked inside Marcy grabbed Anne before she was able to follow Sasha "What's going on?" Marcy asked seriously
"I-" ,
"No, don't give me some bullshit excuse! Sasha seems really upset" She pointed to the blonde who was mindlessly rampaging around, grabbing any clothes and packing them into a small bag "Well she needs to stop treating me like a child!" Anne admitted through gritted teeth,
"She's just looking out for you" She argued,
"I know, but I'm not a child"
"I'll talk to her".
Marcy Wu, always unappreciated but always there when you need her. Anne watched as Marcy spoke with Sasha, making a thumbs up when they'd finished talking as Sasha made her way towards where Anne was still standing in the hall "I'm sorry, I know you can take care of yourself, I just worry is all, I... love you" at that the brunette leaned forward, standing on her tiptoes (Tall Sasha 😚), intertwining her and Sasha's lips once again, the same feeling of complete bliss coming back before Anne stepped away "I love you too, and I forgive you" she smiled at the redness on both of their faces, Marcy watching from afar in awe "Let's get going!" they cheered as they made their way back to Sasha's convertible.
"Mr. X!" All three girls stumbled on their way through the lab door, regarding the FBI agent as they walked over "What are you doing here?" Marcy asked though keeping nothing but friendly "I heard you girls were going back to Amphibia" He answered, not making eye contact as he watched over Terri's shoulder 'Sorry girls, there is still more modifications to be made, its going to take a while" she sighed "I heard about your little friend" eyed Mr. X, causing the girls to panic "We did a bit of searching and we think we know where they are".
