"It's almost like you're hiding from me."
Irene's face showed complete exhaustion. It wasn't until she looked away from her Chromebook that she realized her dehydration.
Ji-Woon crawled into her loft, "Are you alright?"
She rubbed her eyes, "I could use some water."
"Some food too. Did you eat today?"
Irene thought for a moment. "No. I don't remember anything other than my medication. I've been working on my classes for the past while. -but I could use a break."
Ji-Woon scooted closer, "How are your grades?"
"Um... Great, actually. I have at least 90%, and I'm like- 2 months ahead."
That surprised him. So this girl is pretty and intelligent.
Where Ji-Woon came from, every fangirl he met had a perfect physical appearance but was dumber than a 3-year-old. Of course, Irene wasn't immaculate. -but he'd prefer someone with a brain than a plastic face.
He smirked, an idea forming in his head. "Come down. I'll fix you a meal."
"W-what? Wait! No!" She waved her arms, "No! You don't need to do that!"
"Yeah? Well, I want to." He slid down the ladder. "Come on down."
Irene obeyed, but she still didn't want him to wait on her. "Please don't. I don't like it."
"What?" He shook his head, "Why?"
"I just don't."
"Hmmm. Well..." Sauntering over, "I believe that you need a break." He lifted her chin to make her look at him. "So do as I say and go sit on the couch. I'll cook for you."
She sighed in defeat. There was no point in arguing, so she curled up on the couch, closing her eyes.
"What sounds appetizing, love?"
Love?! Did he just- NO! No, he doesn't care! I'll only allow him to control so much! "Cordon bleu chicken. -and I prefer vegetables boiled with vinegar and garlic salt. Broccoli will be fine."
Ji-Woon didn't respond. -but Irene assumed he got the message, hearing the faucet run. No matter what happens, I can't let him manipulate me. I won't develop Stockholm Syndrome.
As if the little pep talk would prepare her for what's to come.
P.S. the picture at the top is the online school system we used at Heartlight. 10/10 recommended! I still use it today!
