Reyn
"How was work? Goin' alright?" Bajan asked as he handed Reyn a cup of coffee. She nods in response not stopping its tracks nor giving a glance at the evaporating cup of vanilla in his hands. She knew that he was just being sarcastic, and Reyn have no time to entertain their 'invitations'.
She continued her trail down to the dark chamber, it was cold and very eerie and the windows were welcoming the winter wind. It made her shiver and clutched her arms in the pocket of her dirty and blood-soaked jeans.
Reyn stopped at the only door inside the chamber, it was made of high-quality tinted glass, it was welcoming her to come closer to its entrance and she did. She took a deep breath before opening the door. Her thoughts scattered like blood on the floor as she continued to walk towards the darkness.
Inside the room, she saw a man in his early 70s sitting on a leather black chair with its back turned against her. Reyn knew he was aware of her presence since she started to walk in the dark chamber, she just stayed glued to her feet unable to move even a single tissue. She heard a deep silent breath and she felt like she was suffocating along with it.
"Status?" General asked with his deep baritone voice. Her lips started moving and she began to talk.
"The Zonduras agreed with the terms of the contract and the promised money is now being delivered to our main house." General nods his head and Reyn just kept on talking and explaining the details of the accomplishment they made for the past week.
" And the Cheribium Domain have completely wiped out the....."
"Are you gonna keep on talking?" His deep voice rang in the four corners of the room.
Reyn felt her tongue moving back inside her mouth, she did not know what to say.
"I was asking about your status. " And General turned its chair, now she was looking at him eye to eye. And it sent a shiver down her spine. "How are you, Reyn?"
General must have known about the mission she had just finished. And he did not like one of his children to be sneaking around accepting deadly missions. His dark eyes examined her, she felt uneasy.
"I'm okay, General." But her body said the opposite, Reyn was barely holding out.
"Oh, really?" He stood up with its tiger cane in his hands. Now she felt like running away, the old man continued to approach her.
Without a word, the tiger cane had reached her ribs and Reyn struggled to gasp for air. She could have sworn she heard at least two cracks.
'Damn'
"What part of you is okay?" Reyn could sense the sarcasm in his words.
She felt hopeless down to her knees. Reyn didn't know what she did wrong this time but she couldn't utter a word of defense. And when she coughed, she tasted blood inside her mouth.
"Go back," General uttered back to his almighty chair.
"What? What do you-?"
"To the Philippines Reyn."
Reyn couldn't process the words. Her mind was terribly puzzled.
"What?---"
"You wanted freedom right?"
"Yes!" Reyn shouted. It became a terrible habit of hers to scream whenever she heard that word. It was like a curse for her and she hated it.
" Now you'll start paying the interest."
General's lips curved up. Now, he was the most scary-looking person for Reyn despite the wrinkly skin in the corner of his eyes, he was a nightmare for her.
