"Cai, I think we should bring her to the infirmary." Nag aalalang saad ni Gem habang inaayos ang napulupot na damit ni Reyn. She didn't think any of this will happen. If this is some normal person, she wouldn't have helped. But both of these girls are far from normal, and she can clearly see that.
"Gem what are you doing?!" Puno ng inis at pagkalitong saad ni Ria. She was worried as hell.
"Sis! Anong ginagawa niyo dito?"
"Damn it Gem! Of course to take care of this. Are these your new friends?"
"Yeah. We didn't expect any of this. Kaya.." Huminto si Gem at tumingin kung nasaan si Deimos.
"We expect a lighter punishment." Mainam na tinitigan ni Gem ang malalalim na mga mata ni Deimos. It was a battle of who will give up first. If Gem will win she might save her new friends but if otherwise, maaring nasa kabilang dako na lamang ang expulsion. And she doesn't want that, and especially these two. Hindi pa niya sila ganon kakilala ngunit masasabi niyang they came here not just to fool around.
"Ria, bring your sister and her friends to the office." Marring saad ni Deimos.
"What's wrong with you? Hindi mo ba nakikita ang sitwasyon?!" Cai couldn't contain it any longer. Is he blind?! Damn it! She has never been pissed off this much in her entire god damn life.
"Shouldn't you let us to the infirmary first?! Damn it! Who do you think you are?"
Dei didn't stop. And nobody dares to stop him. Kahit si Ash na dala-dala ang kanyang kapatid, he give a cold glance to them then finally followed Deimos. Fawn and Alex followed them from behind. And just like that, the cafeteria became silent as if a wave of relief were flooding the corners as they left one by one.
"Ria, shouldn't you follow them?" Sabi ni Gem sa kanyang kapatid.
"No, we'll go to the infirmary first then I will escort you to our office," Ria said with firmness in her voice,
Nauna nang lumakad si Ria, and Gem looked at Cai whose face filled with worry.
"Let's go, Cai. At least my sister has some consideration, unlike those four."
They went to the clinic and there, a nurse greeted them.
"It's the first day and this already happened." She sighed and shake her head. "Put her in that bed."
May kinuha ang nurse sa isang room, and it seems like first aid kit and then a box of pharmaceuticals. Umupo siya sa katabing upuan malapit sa kama. Habang sina Cai at Gem naman ay maiging naka-upo at inoobserbahan ang bawat galaw ng nurse.
"I'm nurse Bea, by the way. It's my first seeing you guys. Mga transferee?"
"Yes, miss." Magalang na saad ni Gem.
The nurse smiled habang may itinurok kay Reyn.
"This will help her to counter the drug. I gave a little bit more dosage than usual dahil mayroon kayong Selection Ceremony mamaya diba?"
"Yes." Tugon ni Gem. She did all the talking because from the looks of it, Cai isn't in the mood to talk.
"Okay, this may do it. In thirty minutes she'll wake up, then give her this medicine. Pain killer iyan, dahil kahit na siya'y gising na, nandoon parin ang sakit. It might be unbearable for a few minutes but I guarantee this drug will help her."
"Thank you, miss."
"You're welcome. I'm looking forward to the three of you this year." Saad ni nure Bea ng may matamis na ngiti at umalis na.
"What did she mean by that?" Gem said. Ang weird ng nurse na iyon. Did she expect that they will be a regular here in the infirmary? Nevermind that.
"I'm sorry." Biglang saad ni Gem, Cai looked at her confused.
"I should have warned you guys first about the norms here in the University. Pero nag-assume akong alam niyo na iyon."
"It's not your fault. Yung Ashrette talaga ang may kasalanan at yung mga naka-maskarang estudyante."
"About sa mga naka-maskarang estudyante, sila ang Phantoms."
"Phantoms?"
"Yes, in this university mayroong dalawang association ang namumuno sa mga students. Ito ay para mapanatili ang kaayusan at kapayapaan dito sa loob ng University. Yung mga nakamaskarang estudyante kanina ay ang Phantoms. They specializes more on the rough side of the Uni. Sila ang responsible sa mga punishments ng mga students na lumalabag sa student conduct ng university. The other association is the---"
"Gem, is it done? Let's go."
They didn't realize it, Ria was just outside. Even Cai was amazed at how good she is at masking her presence.
"Let's continue later. Tutlungan na kita sa pag buhat kay Reyn."
They had Reyn on their side, griping her waist so she couldn't fall. They walk for about 10 minutes and then stopped at a regular office door.
Pag pasok nila ay naka-upo na ang apat na nakamaskarang estudyante sa kaniya-kaniyang upuan. They have a medium size coffee table at the center. It is the only thing that seperates them.
"Please sit down."
They sat on the oppsite direction, while Reyn layed on the bed in the corner of the room. Hanggang ngayon tulog parin siya.
"We are aware of what happened, thus, we shall announce the corresponding punishments for the students involved." Dei was at the center and his voice echoed in the small room.
"This is unfair! Kami lang ba ang mananagot? What about the other students? And in the first place, we were never involved."
"Cai, calm down okay? Pakinggan muna natin kung anong sasabihin nila."
"Then, for the first 2 months, Cairine Mayorga and Gemminia Sanford shall clean the gymnasium." Deimos continued.
"Now, is that okay?"
"Wait, that's it?" Hidi makapaniwalang saad ni Cai. She was expecting it to be more severe like torture, isolation, or even expulsion.
"What do you expect? In the first place hindi naman ganon kalala ang inyong nagawa. I mean, you just yelled at this guy right here." Saad ni Fawn at tinuro kung nasaan si Deimos.
"Then what about, Reyn?" Deretsang saad ni Cai habang nakatitig sa malalalim na mata ng walang iba kundi si Deimos.
"We'll inform her when she recovered. In the meantime, you can go back for the Selection Ceremony." Ria uttered. Even with the mask on, she felt like her whole being were being revealed right before her eyes.
She sensed something different within these two. Maliban kay Gem na kilala na nila dahil kapatid ito ni Ria, the other two transferee have this mysterious and dangerous aura surrounding them.
'What is this?'
And she's sure that her other friends also sensed it.
"We shall take our leave." maikling saad ni Cai at inalalayan ang kanyang kaibigan. Gem followed behind and she cast a meaningful look at her sister before leaving.
"Those two.." Paninimula ni Ria.
"Yeah, they're the first huh.." Saad naman ni Fawn while munching on some cookies
"First ever to not show any fear? Yup, you're correct." Natatawang saad ni Alex habang kinakain ang kanyang Nova.
"What? You guys are trying to scare off first years now? Since when did you take interest in first years?" Saad ni Fawn habang nakatingin kina Ria at Alex.
"Since today? Anyways, should we watch the Selection Ceremony?" Alex muttered with his mouth full.
"Tsk, ano bang nakita niyo dun?" Pag dadabog ni Ash. He's upset with what happened to her sister.
But, they can't really say anything yet, since they didn't know the whole story.
"Should we watch?" It was the first time Kin spoke since the transferees came to their cramped office.
'This should be interesting enough.' All of them had the same thought.
It was the thrill of something new from what happened three years ago. And the Phantoms couldn't anticipate it enough.
