Chapter 7: The Forest

I woke up to a rustling in my room. Once my eyes adjusted I saw eddie. Black pants with chains and a white band tee. Rings too. Of course. He was looking over my music sheets.

He looked over relieved as I sat up.
"Finally youre awake" He said walking towards me. He sat at the foot of my bed placing a hand on my knee. "Howd you sleep?"

Howd I sleep? It was the best night of my entire life.
"Good" I blushed.

"I have a big day ahead. Dustin wants us all to meet up-"

"Dustin knows about this?" I said looking worried

A flash off offense flashed in Eddie's eyes but replied "No but he stopped my my work yesterday to hang out today. And this morning a message was left on the phone. And iiii wanna take a walk before. If you'd like"

"Sure that sounds fun"

"Hey can I pick your outfit today!" He asked

"Okay but I make no promises. If it's bad I'm not wearing it" I said

"You don't trust my impeccable style choices, ln?"

"I do I do just go grab something. My closet is over there"

He walks over and pulls open the doors

"Wohoho. The infamous closet of yn ln" He turns to me and points a thumb into the closet with an eager look and laughs.

"Hurry up" I roll my eyes. He wanders in pushing around hangers and lifting up jeans.

"Oop" He says surprised. A pair of underwear is flung to the floor. "Wrong drawer" He sheepishly smiles to me.

Finally he hands me a stack. A big loose white tee with some band from the early 70s on it. And black shorts.

Once I'm dressed I come back to the room. I realize were matching. I also see Eddie waiting on my bed reading that damn book again.

"Good stuff" He says waving the book at me grinning from ear to ear.

I give him a disgusted but humored look.

He put the book down on my nightstand and got up walking towards me. He stands right in front of me and grabs my hand. He took a ring with 4 skulls off his pinky and put it on my middle finger.
"Now it's complete" He said proudly.

He parked his car next to the treeline behind the school.

"The hell are we doing here"

"Ahh I just like being in nature. Wanted some fresh air before seeing everyone else" He made his way into the forest. And looked back. "You coming?"

I throw my hands in the air, "Sure why not wander the woods with a guy I met 3 days ago", and follow him.

We make it through the bush to a clearing with a picnic table. He takes a seat. Im still exhausted from the night before and straight up lay on the table. Legs dangling off.

"Pretty nice huh"

I suppose it was with nothing but the sounds of the forest. I closed my eyes and listened. Squirrels scurring through trees above us. Toads in a pond that couldnt be too far.

"I suppose it is" We pause for a moment. Just resting. Taking it all in.
It feels safe here with him. Something in me urges me to let him in. "Do you ever feel like you're losing your mind?" I ask.

After a second of silence I open my eyes and turn my head towards him. He looks into my eyes worried. "Oh ya know just-", slowly that expression turns into a smile, "On a daily basis"
