Okay. When I got back to the house, I realized that Gabriel and Uriel had taken my joke about the angels seriously.

"Were you really listening to the angles?" Gabriel said.

"Yeah. You two."

"No. I mean, did you here other angels talking besides us?"

I understood what he meant, then. I normally just drowned them out.

"Um... I'm part angel, so yeah, I hear them talking all the time. Why? Is it bad to listen to others conversations?" I smirked when Uriel huffed. "I can't help it if I am the one they are talking about. And when I hear them talking about me, I listen in."

They both froze.

James looked confused and I stood there, not wanting the attention I was getting.

"The angels have been talking about you?"

"Yeah." I tried to make myself smaller. It didn't work.

Uriel cut in. "What have they said?"

"They were saying that an oracle had said I would be a new protector of earth and that Lucifer is crawling out to kill me."

Gabriel grabbed me by my shoulders and asked if they had said anything else.

"Now that you mention it, they also said..." I stopped, biting my lip, wondering how I should say what was on my mind.

Uriel demanded, "Tell us."

I stared at Gabriel's emerald eyes and decided to tell them. "Some were saying that I would be killed by Satan while others said I would kill him."

I turned and started walking. James followed close behind me. Tears sprung up in my eyes and James noticed. He grabbed my hand as soon as we were out of the angels sight. He squeezed it reassuringly. I looked down at him and smiled at his pale green eyes.
