Monday, first day of school. First day of my new school.
I don't like going to new schools, everyone knows each other, except me. Except the new girl. It's like the term "don't judge a book by it's cover" doesn't apply. What is she wearing? Is she a nerd? Jeez! I know I'm over exaggerating, but it's just how I feel.
I looked at the clock on my bedroom wall.
"6:30 am"
Its time to get up. Instead, I close my eyes and get comfortable. I'm shaken from heaven when the door of my bedroom bangs open. I open my eyes and rest on my elbows, to see my mom with a furious expression on her face. Her eyebrows furrowed, her mouth in a thin line, her hands clenched into fists. Immediately, I get out of bed and race into the bathroom. I heard my phone start singing hopeless opus by Imagine Dragons. That was my alarm, great! Just great!
My bathroom was a baby blue, like my bedroom. A white sink was in the middle, a toilet in a corner, and my shower taking up the rest of my bathroom. I finished my business and went into my walk-in closet. I decided on a black skirt, and a black and white striped crop top. My hair in a ponytail. I grabbed my backpack and ran down the stairs. The kitchen is a light orange, with stools that went into some counters. I wore my black converse, took a granola bar and went out the door.
I ran back in because I forgot my phone. I ran down the street to the bus stop. I stood there for ten minutes and then the yellow school bus came into view. As soon as I got onto the bus, whispers started and people stared at me. I sat alone and stared out the window.
If it's like this on the bus, how is it going to be at school?

I got off the bus feeling anxious. The school was a cream color with black doors as the entrance, held open by two teachers. All around me people were walking with their friends, shouting each other's name, or playfully shoving each other. I sighed at my loneliness. I guess I better get used to this. I start walking towards the big doors but someone pushes me from behind and I trip and fall. The cement floor feels cold against my heated cheek. I scramble up and see a girl looking at me and repeating apologies. I told her it's okay but she decided to accompany me on the walk of shame. I hadn't even made it into the school and I had got tripped! Apparently the girl's name was Candice. Candice Raine. When we entered the building, people pointed at me, laughed and shoved each other. I frowned but let it slide.
"So what's your name?" Candice asked.
"My name's Alyssa." I replied smiling at the idea that I might have made a friend. I had a lot of friends back home but I moved here a couple of months ago. My parents had already made best friends. I hadn't met any kids so all I did was be on my phone or laptop, eat, and sleep.
"So are you new here?" She asked, snapping me back to reality. I nodded and she grinned like a kid that got her first bike. I laughed at her expression and she pouted at me.
"Why were you grinning like that?" I asked still laughing softly. She removed the pout with the same grin and replied.
"Well I had only one friend and she just moved. So I wanted new friends, but nobody wanted to be friends with me. And since then I have been searching for someone that will be my friend." I thought about her case, it was quite weird. Why would nobody want to be her friend?

It was 7:30 and I had twenty minutes to get ready for my first hour. Candy's locker was right next to mine so she helped me out. I had come for their orientation and they showed me my locker and combination. Candy and I had six classes together out of eight. After we finished with that I took my backpack with me to my first hour. We had study hall right now so we settled at a table and chatted.
"Did you get lunch from home Alli?" Candy asked. I shook my head as I looked around the room. The room was loud as hell, laughter, voices, screams, everything. The room wasn't very big. It had white walls, tables scattered randomly, people on the ground. Then a guy walked up to me with his friends and said.
"So you're the new kid? Huh. What do you guys think?" He asked acting like I wasn't sitting right in front of him. I looked at Candy to see that she was ready to kick this guy out of the room. I looked back at the butt hole, I still didn't know his name.
"My name's Shawn. And you are..?" He asked gesturing me to finish his sentence.
"None of your business. She is none of your business. Now go away Shawn." Candy replied pointing to his jam packed table. He chuckled, and looked at his so called "friends." I raised an eyebrow at him and he obliged.
"Now then don't get so feisty Miss Raine." He laughed as the whole room watched the show. Candy clenched her fists then went over to my side of the table and whispered the plan. The plan where Shawn becomes embarrassed. I didn't even know the guy but I already hated him. I smirked and got my glass of water and poured it down his face as his friends gaped at me.
"Shut it, Evans." I told him coldly before walking out the room as the bell sounded. Candy grabbed my hand and we ran down the hallway. I'm guessing we could get in trouble. Crap! Its still the first day of school. My parents are going to kill me! We stopped in front of a classroom, then ran into it as the bell rang. We chose seats in the fourth row, since we could talk there. I just noticed that candy was wearing a black sweatshirt that read, " I woke up like this." and yellow jeans and a black beanie and black combat boots. Her brown hair had blonde highlights and lay in waves.
Then his dripping highness walked in, girls trailing behind him.
Popular people.
He caught my eyes and scowled at me and I smiled sweetly at him. One of the girls turned his head and started dabbing his face.
"Stop it! What are you even doing?!" He sneered. The girl stopped then scowled at him and sat in front of me."I told you not to go after him, he's a jerk." Candy told the red head.
"Fuck off." She replied, annoyance dripping from her voice. Candy pursed her lips and looked to the front where the teacher stood.
Class started with introductions and then free time.School went by quickly and soon I was in the bus, but this time Shawn Evans sat next to me.
"What do you want?" I asked staring at him.
"Nothing, what is your name?" He asked, putting a poker face on.
"Why do you want to know?" I asked, he was getting annoying.
"Well, you know my name so I should know your's." He replied logically.
"Fine. My name is Alyssa Roberts." I introduced, did he not listen in class?
"Nice to meet you. My name is Shawn Evans." He introduced, smirking.
"I know. Now, can you go?" I asked.
"No. There are no more empty seats." He answered.
I decided to ignore him for the rest of the ride. I got off at my stop, and Shawn got off with me.
"Huh. Would you look at that, we're neighbors." He said, smirking.
"Yep, unfortunately. Well, bye." I said, walking to my house. Thankfully, he didn't follow me.
This year will be interesting.
