"Wake up sleepy head. Nap time's over." I hear someone say, poking my forehead. I swat at their hand and open my eyes to see Darion sipping annoyingly from a can with his finger extended to my face. I knock his hand away. He laughs and tosses me my bag.
"Gosh, kick me out, why don't you." I smile and laugh. Darion rolls his eyes and slips on his shoes.
"I will." he laughs and grabs a pair of keys from a hook.
I slip on my shoes, "Where are you going?" I ask, tying my shoes.
"To take you home. And since it's cold"--he dangles the key--"I'll be driving because there's no way I'm walking you there."
"You can drive?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Not legally. But I'm fifteen, it's close enough." he winks. I roll my eyes and step out into the frigid air, shuttering. I hear the click of the door as it closes behind me and begin to head out to the only car in the driveway. Doors unlocked, I climbed in and buckled myself. He goes around and gets in the driver's seat. The car comes to life and we pull out of the driveway. For a moment, we're silent and so I spend the time admiring the sky filled with stars.
"I had fun, even if I slept most of the time." he comments, making a left turn.
"Me too. I'd actually like to hang out more if that's fine with you." I replied.
"Anytime. Oh and here's my number in case you need anything." Darion hands me a small slip of paper with numbers scribbled onto it.
"Thank you, and I'll be sure to pester you." I smile. We pull up to my house sooner than I wish.
"Goodnight Perfectly Peachy, you not-so-average girl." he says.
"Goodnight, Number One." I reply and step out of the car. I shut the door and hesitantly walked up to my porch. I don't have to go in to know what's waiting for me when I go in. I wave to Darion and put my hand on the door handle. I turn it slowly and push open the door. I expect to be yelled at, only the lights are off and the house is silent. I step in and shut the door warily. I slip off my shoes and carry them, tiptoeing through the house. The stairs softly creak and I cringe as my door squeals when being opened. I shut my bedroom door before daring to turn on the light.
"You were out late." someone says. I freeze. "Was it fun?" I whirl around to see my brother sitting on my bed with Theodore.
"Andy." I say, shocked.
"Don't think I didn't see you with that guy." he says.
"It's not like that Andy." I argue.
"Then what is it like Fleur?! How am I not supposed to think about the fact that my sister just pulled up at one in the freaking morning with some random guy?! What am I supposed to do? Just think 'Oh yeah, my sister just got dirty with some guy I've never seen.' No Fleur!" he begins to raise his voice.
"Shut up Andy! We didn't do anything!"
"And how am I supposed to believe you?" this shuts me up, I have no response. "Exactly Fleur. And don't think I'm the only one who knows. Dad knows too."
"What?" my eyes go wide.
"He knows everything Fleur."
"Everything? Everything! What do you mean?"
"I mean everything." he answers, holding up Theo in one hand and my pack of cigarettes in the other. I drop to my knees.
"No Andy, no. Why did you...how could you..."
"Don't blame me for your issues Fleur."
"Issues? Issues! Is that what you think I have? Issues?"
"Of course it is! How can you be this stupid Fleur? How?"
