"Keys?" she holds out her hand. I place the keys there and she moves around me to lock the door. I sigh.
"Hey Nads, what time is it?" I slide to the floor, bring my knees to my chest, and look up towards the ceiling.
"Um, we're about to go into whatever class is after second. So whatever class you have after gym." Nadia answers. I groan. History. With Bryon Lee. I slam my head into my knees and cross my arms.
"Oh, come on." Nadia extends her hand. I peek out from beneath my arms. I take her hand and she lifts me from the ground. I stand in front of her as she plucks the hat from my head.
"Whose beanie is this?" she holds it up.
I debate what I should say but decide to answer with, "A friend. It was cold up there and I remembered I had a friend's beanie shoved into my pocket."
"Mhm." she says disbelievingly. "Well come on."
"Fine, fine. I'm coming." I roll my eyes as she drags me. We arrive in the common area just as people start to file in and out, some stopping in the middle of the place to talk to their friends and complain about teachers and gossip about what boys they think are hot. I gag as I hear one girl squeal as Bryon Lee winks at her and walks off. She begins to talk about how big his muscles are and how hot he is and I pretend to vomit. Nadia gives me a hug and heads off to her class. I turn and begin to walk into the west wing when Alphie comes up and grabs my shoulder.
"Hey, where were you yesterday? And today? I was looking forward to playing ball with you." he says with a slight frown.
"Oh, yesterday I missed the bus and didn't want to walk. And I had an appointment today." I make up.
He nods. "Oh."
"Alphie! Babes!" someone calls as they hop onto Alphie's back and wrap their arms around his shoulders.
"Ugh! Peaches! What did I tell you about jumping on my back?" Alphie says.
"I'm sorry." the mystery person says, getting off and looking away.
"It's okay. Just warn me next time." Alphie explains.
"I called your name." the person says.
"You know I don't pay attention." Alphie smirks and pulls the person into his side, nudging his nose into the boy's fluffy hair.
"Peaches?" I say, my face written with confusion.
"Oh, Fleur, meet Peaches aka Bailey Sparks. My boyfriend." he whispers the last part as Bailey clings to his arm.
"Oh! You two look really good with each other!" I comment with a smile. Alphie lights up.
"Oh, uh, thank you!" he smiles. "Well, me and Peaches have to go to class. See ya later Fleur!" I notice Bailey blush hard when he's called Peaches. I laugh and walk into history class. I instantly go for my seat near the window but freeze when I see someone sitting next to my chair, in the seat Bryon sat in. It's Darion. I quickly look around for another place to sit but he sees me before I can find one.
"Hey, Fleur. Over here." he calls. I stand up straighter and head over, taking a seat next to him. I don't talk. Suddenly, Bryon and a few other football players enter the room and look straight at me. I groan and put my head down.
"Hey look, it's the Flasher." Bryon comments. I hear him and his friends snicker so I peek at Darion. His face is blank.
"Hey Darion," Bryon walks up to us as his friends sit down behind us, "you like women, right? Why don't you ask Flasher there to flash for you again. You've got the looks, I'm sure she'd say yes. And I will admit, she's got some good ones." Bryon smirks and winks. I feel my body begin to shake as I tuck my arms around my stomach and leave my head down on the desk.
