Chapter One: Meet the Family

     "Shit."

     "Ben," Klaus said, a smile spreading across his face. 

     "Is that really you?" Luther asked, taking a couple steps forward

     "Me," Ivy said, pointing at the red head. Five looked at her, then at the red head who was staring at her in confusion. 

     "And who are the weirdos on the balcony?!" Diego screamed, Klaus scrunching as he was right next to him. 

     "They are the Sparrows," Reginald said. "My children." 

     "I'm sorry. What do you mean, your children?" Five asked, turning and stepping towards him. "That's not possible, old man." 

     "Of course it is!" Reginald reassured them. "I think I'd know, wouldn't I?" 

     "Everybody else can see Ben, right?" Klaus asked, motioning towards him. 

     "Cute hat, Sundance," Ben remarked. 

     "We're moving too fast past the fact that there is two of me," Ivy said, looking at her family. 

     "They call themselves the Umbrella Academy, a group of scheming, perfidious malcontents who accosted me in the fall of 1963 when I was away on business in Dallas," Reginald informed the Sparrows. "Be warned, they claim to be my spawn." 

     "Claim?" Allison asked. "Look, Five, what the hell is going on?" 

     "I don't know yet, but it's concerning," he said with a shrug. 

     "Is he telling the truth?" Marcus asked, motioning to Reginald. 

     "Not the part about us being perfidious," Vanya said. 

     "No, we're amateur-fidious, at best," Klaus added on. 

     "But we are his children. This is our house," Vanya finished. 

     "Yeah, yeah. We, uh... We grew up here," Luther said. 

     "'Yeah, yeah, we grew up here,'" Alphonso mocked Luther. 

     "I kind of think we would have noticed you," Sloane said, leaning to look at him. He stared at her, then smiled. 

     "Hi, I'm Luther," he said. 

     "Are you serious?" both Ivy's said at the same time. 

     "We're going to get along so well," Umbrella Ivy said, the other one glaring at her. 

     "Okay. None of you belong here," Allison said, taking a few steps forward. 

     "Oh! Well, then. I guess we'll just pack our bags and move out," Fei said with a shrug. The floating cube made noises, everyone looking confused while the Sparrows laughed. 

     "You slay me, Chris," Ben said, Ivy furrowing her eyebrows. 

     "I wasn't expecting company," Grace suddenly said, all of them looking to see her in the doorway with a tray. "This is the best I could do on short-- Short... Short notice." 

     "Mom," Diego said, stepping forward to look at her. 

     "Mom? She's a robot, you perv," Jayme snapped at him. 

     "It's not a robot," Diego responded. 

     "Hey, don't you call him that," Luther argued.
