Aria's pov.
I curl my hair loosely and put on my tiny black top, which was the dress code for my job, and add on some booty shorts. I paint my lips red and pack on mascara.
I walk out into the living room, feeling a little exposed in front of my brother and the boys.
"Ari knows how to get tips baby," Luke says and laughs.
"It's dress code, and I make 300$ a night in tips at the least," I say and fist bump Luke.
"I'm not saying a word," ash says, I'm satisfied with the self-control.The first few hours went by so quickly, on my break I see a text from Max,
I'm so sorry.
What's that about.
I put my phone in my pocket and start counting my tips.
174$.
Decent.
I walk back into the diner and see a table seating 4 boys.
Jesus Christ.
"Hey guys what can I get for ya today," I say with a fake smile.Calums pov.
I make eye contact with Aria sending butterflies in my stomach. Then I stare at her lips, covered in bright red lipstick, which I know she wouldn't wear on her own, every other girl was wearing the same shade.
Her hair with her natural curls had recently been dyed black.
I was shocked when I saw she had ditched her natural blonde waves but the black made her look grown-up.
"I'll be right back with drinks," she says and smiles.
I watch her hips sway as she walks away.
I understand that the point of these restaurants is to put on a show... but why our table, why with me.
"Here cal I got you a beer," she says and sets it in front of me.
I take a sip.
"Tastes off," I say.
She grabs it from me.
"I like it," she says and licks the beer salt off her lips, she follows and gives me a wink. I see if any noticed or if I was losing my mind.
"You gonna get fired if they see you, Ari," ash says.
"Ash you have no idea the shit we are taught to do for tips. Don't worry about it" she says and walks away.Arias Pov.
I count up my tips and shove them into my money bag.
423$ is not bad.
I walk into the dark house with not a single movement in the house.
I turn the corner and see Calum's head shoot back at me.
"Oh hey, Ari," he says and continues getting a bow of cereal.
I hop on the counter next to him and sit with him.
"Everyone else's lame asses in bed," I ask.
He smiles and nods. Sipping his cereal.
"How was work?" He asks.
"Miserable" I joke.
"Bet you got good tips," he says setting his bowl in the sink.
"What makes you say that"
"I don't know maybe the tiny top and nonexistent shorts" he jokes.
"Everyone wears it so what would make me get any more tips than the rest"
Calum stands less than 3 inches away from my face.
"Because those other girls aren't even comparable to you Ari," he says. I stop breathing for a sec before Calum backs up a tad.
"What are you trying to say Calum," I say sternly.
"Nothing, just that I know you got good tips," he says plainly. I know there was more to this than what's left on the surface.Calums pov.
I debated on kissing her, really debated. Something about her loose curls that pretty much fell out of her hair, along with the black tank top that showed 90% of her belly.
And also the fact that I've been slowly falling in love with her over the years, I wanted to. But what would that do to our friend group? Our family.
Our band, our lively hood, all of it. Ruined.
