Melody Venus Stone
Can you take me to my parents house. I have to get ready." I wake up Elliot.
"I can't drive." He mumbles with his face still in the pillow.
I was angry with him. Angry with a lot of things occurring in my life and angry at things I should not be. For instance, him hooking up with Natalee. I curse myself for being angry with him. That may or may not be his ex or girlfriend. But he made me feel vulnerable then went with another girl. What the hell am I saying?
"Well I don't know what you want me to do. I have to go, the wedding is in like five hours. You shouldn't have gotten shitfaced." I glare.
He groans getting up and tosses me his keys. "Why do you have your shit?"
"I'm not staying here again." I head out the bedroom.
He grabs his stuff and slides on his shoes. Elliot goes to Natalee who looks upset and says bye.
I thank her for letting us stay and leave.
"If you hit anything with my baby, I will absolutely kill you." He throws his stuff in the backseat then puts on his sunglasses when he gets into the passenger side.
I drive home safely and make it to my room before talking to anyone, except Marigold. I lock my door and give Elliot medicine for his pounding headache and let him sleep for a bit. I was in charge of getting together the family video and photo book. The video was already created and now I was assembling the thousands of pictures in the photo books, yay.
I wasted some time getting my nails done and the rest of the hours hiding out in my room. I was done with all of my responsibilities and Elliot had sobered up after his shower. He was getting dressed in my room while I was getting dressed in the bathroom. I was an accident so my parents were married after I was born. I was the flower girl at the wedding. Although now Marigold will do the flower girl part and my mother asked me to be a bridesmaid even though she didn't really want me to. It's a short and sweet wedding with just the family, a few work friends, and both of my parent's parents. On my mothers side, I had both grandparents but on my fathers side my grandfather had passed away a few years ago.
I was in a black towel in the bathroom styling my hair. I had all my makeup and jewelry on. The bridesmaids were wearing loose, satin emerald green dresses. I paired it with corresponding green heels.
"So were you and Natalee a thing?" I ask from the bathroom.
"No. She's just a friend." I hear him clear his throat.
"If you make out with all your friends like that, then I don't think I wanna be friends with you." Lie.
"That was a mistake." I hear his foot steps towards the door. "Can I see your face, I hate talking like this."
I was strapping on my last heel.
He opens the door I swear I seen a light his eyes before he looked shook it off. I was still in awe at him. He looked really nice, even if he was just sitting in the audience.
"I was drunk and had built up work stress. She's always had a crush on me, so she made a move. We made out, nothing else." He was close.
He towers over me even in heels. Damn.
"Elliot you don't have to explain yourself to me, you can do whatever you want with whoever you want. Pretending remember?" I raise an eyebrow.
His hand touches my chin and holds it as his thumb does circles. Damn.
He brings his face closer to mine and my breath starts to get uneven. Damn.
He kisses my cheek. "You look beautiful."
I feel hot. Hot all over. I was melting.
"Making you nervous is my new favorite thing in the world." He smiles before backing out of the room. "And call me Theo again I'll cut you, love."
I didn't think he remembered last night. I follow behind him and grab my phone. Leaving out, I knock on Marigold's door.
"Goldie come on."
"Be there in a second!" She yells. "Meet you in the truck!"
I follow behind Elliot. He was wearing a black button polo shirt with khaki shorts. I was still all hot from the bathroom incident. We get in his truck and wait. He grabs my hand holding it and I try to pull it away.
"Dating, remember?" He looks at Marigold who was making her way over.
She looked gorgeous. She always was the pretty sister. She was wearing a green dress with lace tulle like style. Her hair was naturally curly with a vine halo around her hair.
Elliot continued to hold my hand while driving which let the butterflies roam.
"So Elliot?" My sister starts.
"Yeah?"
"Why are attracted to my sister?" She asks and I look back at her with a confused look.
He looks over at me. "She was nice. That's what attracted to me to her first." He looks at the road. "Genuinely nice, and you don't find many people that are nowadays. I could tell she has a good heart."
I poke out my bottom lip and stare out the window. No one besides Kalani, has ever said anything about me that nice.
"That's all, she's nice?" Marigold says scrolling through her phone.
"Trust me there's other things, but they're quite inappropriate so I shouldn't say." Elliot smirks and I blush.
I try to let go of his hand but he doesn't let me.
"Gross." She says.
We arrive at the place shortly and see our grandparents.
"Nana!" Marigold gives Grandma Rylee a hug.
Nana Rylee is my dads mom. Granny Denise is my mom's mom. Grandpa Joe is my mom's dad.
"Hi granny." I give Denise a hug.
I give all my grandparents a hug.
"Oh my my my, who is this?" Nana Rylee grabs Elliot's hand.
He kisses her hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Elliot. I'm Melody's boyfriend." He does the same to granny Denise.
Grandpa shakes his hand then takes me to the side.
"Is he treating you alright?" My grandpa puts an arm around me. "He's not like that other piece of shit right?"
"Yes pawpaw, he's been good to me."
Elliot has been weirdly good to me on this trip. As it started to come to an end, I began to think what would happen when we went back to our lives.
The ceremony was about to start and we take our places. My father stood in his place with a huge smile on his face. My mother may be a grade A bitch sometimes, but he loves her to her core. My mother walks down the isle and she was stunning. I may not have the best relationship with my mother, but she is one gorgeous woman and I loved her all the same.
The remake of the wedding was beautiful. It actually brought tears to my eyes. I was so happy for them. They were leaving for vacation and Marigold was going to California with Nana Rylee for the summer again. She has friends up there. I wasn't told this until five minutes ago, so after hugs goodbye Elliot and I were back on the road.
Back to our lives, the pretending was up.
