Nefelibata (n. one who lives in the clouds of their own imagination or dreams, or one who does not obey the conventions of society, literature, or art, "cloud walker").
Alora
I ran through the woods as fast as I could, trying to escape the guards following me. Eventually, I reached a small clearing of trees where I was able to make myself disappear.
I soon reappeared behind a large group of people watching one of the many plays the king now put on to honor his diseased son.
Putting my cloak up, I wandered through the crowd, keeping my head down. I was able to make it to the front of the crowd, observing the play. It was rather a ratchet one. It seemed too good to be true in my opinion. I scoffed while in the process of rolling my eyes when the play had finished. The king stood off the bench he laid on and clapped, the crowd of Asgardians clapping with him. Soon people started to dissipate. I blent in with the crowd, that way I was able to move myself from in front of the palace to the doors of it.
I looked around myself before walking through the wall, making myself appear in one of the rather excessive halls of the palace. I took a deep breath before making myself look like one the maids. I then started walking towards the kings chambers. I knocked once, then a second time, making sure no one was in there. I made sure to use the wall yet again. I wasn't sure if there was a curse upon the door or not, showing if someone had entered.
Once I was in the grand room. I started going through the rows and rows of bookshelves now kept in there. Odin was never one for a heavy reader or decorator in his chambers. Curtesy of the new king, he had them moved in here. I finally stumbled across the one I was looking for, being at the very top shelf, lying upon the other books. I looked around before snapping my fingers, the book falling into my hands.
I smiled at the dark brown, leather cover hiding the secrets within the pages. Though, my face quickly shifted when I heard the door start to open. I panicked, making myself invisible in an instant, positioning myself next to the door in the process. Gripping the book close to me, the king entered. I sighed. He was the last person I wanted to deal with right now.
As he did every night, once he knew he was alone, the thought to be king became himself once again. The rather stubby man, turned into a tall, lean one. The grey hair changing into an ebony color, along with both eyes then being visible.
Oh, how deceiving the prince was; fooling them all.
He sighed in relief, for I'm assuming he was relieved that his shenanigans for the day were finally over. Pretending to be another person was always a struggle. I believed that I had felt pity for him at that moment, but only for a brief one.
As I went to exit through the wall again, I bumped the plant positioned next to me over.
Curse me, I thought to myself.
He spun around entirely too quick. "Who goes there?" He questioned. I couldn't leave now, he'd see my outline leave through the wall.
Damned these whites walls.
"I said, who goes there?" He drew a dagger into his right hand. "Show yourself."
I sighed to myself. I slid along the wall, being as quiet as possible, almost silent, until I was positioned next to his bed.
Now, this is the wiser decision. Transporting myself like I did earlier would get me out of here, but I would not be able to take the book with me.
And I needed this book.
Now standing on the other side of the room, I waited for him to let his guard down; realizing that there's nothing there.
It took longer than I thought it would. Five minutes had past before he set his dagger down. I stopped holding my breath at the action, feeling as if I could breath again.
