Annabeth

Annabeth woke up suddenly in the middle of the night, wet from sweat, her heart pounding frantically. She slowly started to relax. It was just a dream. She was kind of used to them by now.

The dream had been quite weird and terrifying, but that was no surprise in conparison to all countless previous ones. As a demigod, Annabeth had long ago come to terms with the fact that peaceful nights were limited at best for someone like her.

This time, she had dreamt that she was in a spaceful dark room, old enough to start collapsing the next minute. Across one of the four grey walls, a bold thin man, his skin so pale he appeared as if he was sick, was sitting in a marble chair stroking an enormous green snake, as if it were a small kitten. The sick-looking man had his mortifying gaze nowhere in particular, his face tense as if deep in thought. Annabeth somehow was aware, like someone is when dreaming, that the man was waiting for something.

Sure enough, suddenly, someone else was present in the room, though Annabeth couldn't see them from her own point of view.

"You are late," spoke the man with an unnatural hissing voice, which at first caused Annabeth to think the snake was the one making the sound.

"Time accuracy is a delicacy in which i do not feel obligated to abide to, especially when it comes to you. I arrive whenever suits me best. Suppose you want us to collaborate. You must stop attempting to take control over me, mortal."

Though she couldn't see its owner, Annabeth was quick to recognise that voice. She desperately wished she was mistaken, but she couldn't deny that it sounded too much like the evil earth goddess Gaia.

The man sighed and whispered mischievously, "I see your temper is ill today." He smirked slightly with a mixed expression in his eyes. "Mustn't you forget that the sole reason you are standing now before me is because of my... assistance?"

"You are well aware we both benefited from each other in order to fulfill our recovery," said -oh, there was no point denying it - Gaia. "Although I must say such a childish reaction doesn't come as a surprise from a man that managed to be defeated by an 18-year-old boy. Twice might i add."

That seemed to trigger something in the man's memory, as he spontaniosly made a grimace, but finally, he managed to restrain himself.
"All those things don't truly matter. What matters is that those little pathetic children, demigods, and wizards won't have a chance against our combined power," the man uttered, a mischievous smile forming on his sickly face.

"Well, I can't disagree with that."

Right then, the snake in the man's legs looked straight at Annabeth, hissed loudly, and threw itself right at her as if to attack.

That was when Annabeth woke.

She didn't know what the dream meant but she sure knew this: once again she and her friends were in big trouble.

A few hours later, when the sun finally decided to rise from the Long Island shore, Annabeth got out of bed and set off to find her boyfriend.

After that lovely and relaxing dream, she had tried to get back to sleep but had been unsuccessful. She had managed to scrap together about five hours of sleeping.
