"Where did she go?" Georgia and Justin came wandering into the living room. Eddie was still scavenging for food, he was always hungry. "She left, she said she'd tell me the news some other time." Justin looked shocked and came and sat beside me. "George could you give us a minute?" Georgia smiled, nodded and backed slowly out of the room, but knowing her, she'd be back. "So she didn't tell you huh?" I picked up one of the oreos out of the open packet and unscrewed the top of the peaunut butter. "Nope." I dunked the cookie into the spread and ate it whole. "She got annoyed." Justin sighed and scratched the back of his head. "Beau... She's leaving, her whole family are moving to California." I sat bolt upright and almost spat out my biscuit. "What!? How come!?" I dropped the oreo I was about to dunk. "Her Dad's work is all over the place as you know, and they thought they were settled here in south beach but obviously not. A big job offer came up and they're moving next week." I was utterly speechless. "So I might never see Jules again? That's it? The gang broken up just like that..." Justin took one of my biscuits. "I couldn't believe it either, she's devastated. I think it's best that we are very senstive with her. You know what it's like with Jules sometimes, treading on eggshells." I nodded and Justin left the room. My friends were leaving, I was alone, Julia was almost gone for good and I was just left with a TV which was switched off, an injured foot. And a tray of food which I didn't want. I tried to think of upsides to the situations. But there weren't any, none at all. I picked up my phone and tried to call Julia, but she didn't pick up. I didn't blame her, I had practically replaced her with Georgia, I knew that's why she was upset, nothing to do with the interruptions, just the fact that I had single handedly replaced my gal besty. I felt awful. And just when I'd found ? aswell. Things were not going smoothly, and the only positive side I could thing of was that things could only get better from here. My phone started to ring, I had raised my hopes and thought it was Julia, but it was actually Eddie. "Urm I left my blazer at yours, can I come and get it?" I know a blazer seems a little odd in the summer but Eddie was a very snappy dresser and didn't care about the weather he was dressing for. "Yeah sure, come over whenever." I switched the TV back on via remote "cool." He hung up, I assumed he'd be round shortly. It wasn't spongebob anymore, it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I couldn't stand it but I left it on. I wasn't in the mood for anything enjoyable.
I decided it was time for me to start walking again, it would be nice to get some fresh air, to clear my head. I lifted myself off of the sofa, after day 5 of keeping my foot elavated all day, I'd seen a weever fish injury before, they really weren't deadly and I was sure it didn't need this much attention and care. It was raining, the weather was the worst we'd seen all summer. And nobody was out, so I took this as my chance to have a walk without anybody stopping me. Mum was out again and Claudia had three friends round, Emma, Rebecca and Matilda. "I'm going out, see you round three." I yelled upstairs where they were playing with her wide collection of MyScene dolls. There was no response but I left anyway. I was wearing knee length grey shorts and a dark blue Hollister hoodie. I walked straight out to near the prom and along the pavement, it was raining really quite heavily, so I took myself off into the mall where I eventually found myself sitting in the backroom of a small Costa. I sat for ages, and let my latte get cold. The front room was nice and modern but where I was sitting was cold and chilly, the door was open and letting in a draught. There was only one other person in the room with me, an old man, who looked slightly homeless, he had a long beard and a big backpack, but after a while he left and I was alone. A feeling that was becoming very familiar to me. I heard the bell of the entrance ring and prayed it wasn't anyone I knew, I took a sip of my now cold latte and stared at the grey wall. A waitress came through to where I was sitting, she was old and had a big wart on her eyelid. "Are ya done with that?" She asked, and without saying anything, I passed her the mug. Two girls walked in to wear I was sitting. One of them was Ellie. "Mind if we sit here?" She asked "don't want to be filling up the shop." Regardless of what I was about to say they pulled up two chairs and plonked down. "So how's you then? I heard about your foot and all." Obviously news gets around quicker than anticipated. "I'm okay," Ellie looked at her friend and nudged her, almost knocking the hot chocolate out of her mouth. "This is the one Georgia was talking about" she looked at me "she thinks you're well fit." I felt a little awkward. "Oh... She talks about me?" That's the real thing I caught on to. It didn't bother me, it felt nice to know somebody talked nice about me. "Yeah! She says how good a teacher you are at surfing and the lot." Oh. I thought for once somebody had been saying nice stuff about me. Rather than my surfing, but obviously that wasn't possible. "You seem quiet." Ellie said, taking a bite out of her big chocolate muffin. "I'm not having the greatest week." I confessed to her, she looked sympathetic, but didn't seem all that genuine to be honest, and I didn't particularly want to tell her everything that had happened to me that week and past few days. "Oh cause of your best friend leaving and everything?" She said, I wasn't sure how she had found that out, I could only think that Georgia had told her. "Julia? How do you know about Julia?" Now would have been the perfect time to have taken a sip of my coffee mysteriously, but it had been long since taken away. "Aw it's allover facebook init?" She said, I wasn't sure if it was a question or a response. "Oh is it? I wouldn't know, I don't spend much time on the internet." Ellie nodded, her friend was very quiet, unlike Ellie. "What's your name then?" I asked her, only trying to include her in the conversation. "Elizabeth." She said. "Or Lizzy, I don't mind." I nodded. "And what about you?" Ellie chipped in before I could say anything. "That's Beau, thought you would have picked that up from all Georgia's nattering." It was flattering to know Georgia had been saying nice things, but if I was her I wouldn't want my friends to tell whoever it was I'd been talking about. "Well, ladies. It's been nice, but I've got young girls waiting to be babysat at home. I meant to be there now actually. Oops. Better go, bye!" They both smiled simultaneously and waved goodbye, I stood up and walked out of the café.
