I sat on the sofa after Eddie and Justin left, thinking. I did a lot of that, there was a knock at the door, I could half see through the frosted window that it was Georgia, I didn't particularly want to talk to her. But I let her come in anyway. "What do you want?" I said, she didn't say anything back, she just handed me an envelope. And held back obvious tears, I didn't know why at the time, but then she left. As soon as she had gone, I opened the envelope. And read it to myself.
Beau,
I wrote this letter because it was easier to write down that to say in person, although, writing it down isn't all that easy. Anyway, let's just say, the tickets are booked and I'm moving to London. But not London England, the London that's 5330 kilometres away. In Canada. But it's not for frivolous reasons. My Grandma's very sick and alone, we need to go out there and help her in her last year. We might come back at some point, but I'm not sure. Main point is, my whole family is moving back to Canada and I might never see you again. It hurts, but I'll live, but right now. I need to think about my family. Not my friends.
Georgia xox
What a coincidence. Both Georgia and Julia were moving over 5000km away. And one of them had to be Angel, and at the moment I had no idea which. But then I thought, one of them must have wrote the letters and have recieved all mine. But it was up to me to decide who my Angel was. That's when I realised, she was mine. And I could decide who she was.
Right, so Julia had left and the plot thickened. It was getting quite exciting for me actually, I could choose. California was somewhat 5400 kilometres from here, and London, Canada was 5330 kilometres. But all Angel had said was that she was moving over 5000 kilometres, which is both Canada and California. So it was impossible to detect who'd written the letter by investigation. Unless I used fingerprints, but that wasn't happening. Who was my Angel? Who did I want her to be, I'd known Julia longer but Georgia had just appeared out of nowhere and seemed so perfect. I had no idea what to do or where to go. For the first time in a long time. When I realised, my time was up. I could surf again! I grabbed some spare clothes and ran out of the front door. I was elated, I couldn't wait to surf again. I arrived on the beach. It wasn't that busy since it was just a Wednesday. Josh's eyes brightened when he saw me. "Tell me you're time's up." He said, I nodded. "Yep, went up yesterday. So, tell me, where can I go, who can I teach!?" Josh looked around and scratched his head. "Urm, no classes at the moment, but you can kick up some waves if you like? If you're happy on your own?" That's what he said, kick up some waves. For surfing. Of course I was happy to surf on my own. Ideally it's absoloutely what I wanted! "Cool!" I said and dashed down the prom to our hut.
