As soon as I got home I pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted Georgia, she had given it to me the day she broke my friendship with Julia. I texted her saying. 'Let's not tell. I'm still mad.' And I was, Julia and my other friends were more important to me than anything. And that's when I wondered, why would Julia be mad if I kissed Georgia, or if I started dating her, why would it matter to her? And why did she adopt a sudden dislike for Georgia the second she sussed that she kinda liked me. Then it occured to me. The conversation in the Milkshake Shack, about looking at people in 'that' way, that's why she cared so much. How could I be so ignorant. Just then, my phone buzzed, it was Georgia 'I agree. But I think you should take the time to make amends with Julia, I don't want to get in the way of you two. You're made for eachother.' Why would she say that? She knew I didn't like like Julia. Stupid really, what two best friends fall in love. And just because she's a girl, it's not like she says me and Justin are good for eachother, then again, that would be a little out of the ordinary. I texted back saying 'Nawh, but I'll try.' I was about to call Julia, when she called me first. "I saw everything." She said, she seemed annoyed, but I wanted to keep this chilled. "I know you did, and I'm sorry, we were arguing and then-" She started talking before I could finish. "Sorry? Why? You seem happy with her. Look, I'm leaving tomorrow, that is, I assume you heard. But anyway, I want to leave on a good note, so, I'm sorry for everything. Just everything I have ever, ever done to you. And that I love yaa!" By the way, she is not saying she loves me, we always say it to eachother. Like girls call eachother babes, it like that. "Haha, Love yaas too!" I ended that phone call smiling, expecting it to be one of the last times I heard Julia's voice. Just then I heard some post come through the door, I picked up a couple of letters I had written to Angel, wondering if I could give them directly to Rufus. But when I got down to the door, it wasn't Rufus, it was some other young, lanky boy. "Who are you?" I asked, trying to sound as polite as possible. "Oh, I'm Lucas" he said with a broad smile. I frowned. "Well where's Rufus? Our normal postguy, short, chubby, dark grey hair?" Lucas looked a little lost at first then realised who I was talking about. "Ohh, I replaced him, he went in for a police job!" Ohmigod. Rufus was Georgia's father. She did live on Drury lane and she probably knew about my letters to Angel. How come everything was only becoming clear to me now. The moment I had ruined it with her. I had to go and make it up, I had made up with Julia and now I had to sort out the awkward situation with Georgia. I ran out of my house, into the newly risen sun. Ellie was walking down the street towards me. "Did Georgia tell you anything?" I asked her, whatever she said, I wasn't going to get mad, I was trying this new thing. Called being happy and positive. I had a whole new lease on life. "She told me everything. You player." She said with half a smirk. I raised my eyebrows and started to run off then she yelled. "And what about me? The matchmaker?" I laughed and pecked her on the cheek. I don't know what had made me so confident all of a sudden. We both laughed and I ran off again. Towards the old town, the high street, where the post office was and that's where I was headed.
I reached the outside of the post office, I saw various people inside, behind a window, sorting letters and weighing parcels, I walked in boldly and up to the window. There was a man there who looked rather senior in the process of sorting. "Yes." He said with a snide tone in his voice, he stood cockily resting his arm against the window, showcasing his disgusting sweat stains. "Get me Rufus Taylor's address." The man raised his eyebrows and picked up a sheet of paper. He scanned it as I tapped my fingers impatiently on the counter. "I'm sorry but he no longer works for us. Try the police station." He smirked. "Thanks for nothing." I said as I walked out of the room, he didn't react, suggesting that maybe people often made spiteful remarks as they left the office. I dashed across the road to where the police station was, it was quite grand with a couple of squad cars parked outside. I walked in, the lady in here looked rather unassuming. "Hi there, what can I do for you?" She asked, with a friendly smile. "Is it possible for you to fetch me Rufus Taylor. It's sort of urgent." She smiled again and pressed a button on her desk, and as if by magic. A door opened at the back of her office into another office and out came Rufus, in a full policemans uniform. His face lit up. "Beau!" I smiled at him. "Rufus I need your help, urgently, it's a long story. Just take me to wherever your daughter is." He looked suitably confused. "Which one? I have too many to keep track of." I clenched my fists, I was sort of panicking, but I wasn't sure why. "Georgia. I know her is all and we need to talk." He pulled some keys out of his pocket and looked suddenly very on the ball. "Ever travelled with blue flashing lights before?" I was very excited, I assumed he was hinting about driving by squad car. He came out of the office via a side door and patted me on the back. The ady at the desk laughed and said "stay safe you guys." We dashed out of the door and jumped into the nearest car, he seemed pretty confident about what he was doing. "She looked at you awful sweetly." I said to him, talking about the woman behind the desk. "That figures. She is my wife after all." I was totally shocked. "Ohmigosh. You're kidding, she's your wife!?" Rufus laughed and started the car, he nodded slowly. "She's my beautiful wife. 20 years married. And happy as ever." I smiled, he seemed so happy with his life. I hoped to be like him someday. "So where did you need to get to my boy?" He asked me. "Urmm, wherever Georgia is, we need to straighten something out." Rufus frowned, then started backing out of the station driveway. "I think she's just at home, but stop me if you see her." I nodded, he seemed very proffessional.
We were driving along near the prom when I saw a girl, running her arm along the railing, I could only see the back of her head but I was pretty sure it was Georgia. "STOP THE CAR SHE'S THERE!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, he swirved and pulled up right by where she was standing. I jumped out of the car and went up to her. I peeped in the window where Rufus was. "Please don't watch." I said. He put his thumb up and turned his head in the other direction. I walked up to her and tapped her on her shoulder. "Hiya." I said, she looked shocked at everything, me, the squad car, everything. "What are you doing here? Did my Dad bring you here? How do you know my Dad?" I sighed and rubbed my head with my hands. "Long story. But I just need to talk right now. What happened earlier. Didn't mean anything, and on the off chance it happened again. We never speak of it." She nodded. "I-I just wanted to settle that." She very suddenly wrappeed her arms around me in a tight hug. "I want to say thank you. I've never had a friend like you before." I hugged her back. "You see what I mean to you. That's what Julia means to me, so I guess.. You understand now." I smiled, nodded and walked slowly back to the car. She stood still on the pavement, I guess she was contemplating... But I will never know.
