"What are you supposed to be again?" I look her up and down trying to understand the costume.
"For the last fucking time, I'm Morticia Addams from the Addams Family" Lani scoffed while we both waited in cold for Steve to get here.
"This year, I have chosen something different. Looking at my newly purchased Wonder Woman costume, I groaned, "Something special like yours, but I didn't think too much into it. I completely forgot that presumably, everyone else was going to dress up as her for Halloween even though I wanted to be her.
"I told you to be the girl from Michael Jackson's Thriller video. The look would've been cute, especially since the girl looks kinda like you" She spoke in an admonishing tone.
"I can always wear it next year anyway" I muttered while seeing a car coming down the street.
"It's going to be out of style next year when you would wear it so it wouldn't be worth it anymore" She looked over trying to see if Steve was in the car.
"You're a character from a show in the 60s? But that's not out of style, okay Lani" I said in a snarky tone while watching the car come closer. It wasn't Steve it was Joyce dropping Raven off.
"Listen, you're not a trendsetter like me, I'm the fashion icon of this group, not you or anyone else. You're like Nancy, a smart sweet girl in the public eye. You live up to that look. I keep up with the latest fashion trends, I know what I'm doing. Trust me that outfit I told you to wear will most definitely be out of style" She stopped talking as Joyce parked the car in front of the car.
Kinda annoyed by her little comment but that's just how she is. It didn't still quite make sense to me because the Thriller video came out a while ago.
I saw Raven come out of the car with a care bear stuffed animal and some he-man action figures. I didn't even know arcades were legit like that.
"Thank you so much Joyce for dropping her off!" I flashed a smile while waving at her and the rest of the kids in the car.
"Oh no problem, she's a sweet girl. Have a happy Halloween girls" Joyce drove away while Raven walked into the house getting ready for bed.
"God where the fuck is Harrington? We're gonna be so late" Lani complained while clicking her heels together.
He had finally pulled up five minutes later. The whole car ride was full of Lani going off on Steve about how long we stood there waiting for him. Them both going back and forth reminded me of an old married couple. I could see them together, but Lani says she would never date him in a million years.
