"So, you're telling us that one of your rivals went bankrupt? And now they're facing a lawsuit because they tried to hide a huge part of their assets?", Hazel asked, flabbergasted. I saw the waiter come by and set down our orders. No one seemed to be affected by that as they continued their conversation.

The four of us were on a group date, which was planned last minute. All four of us were dressed in casuals and coincidentally, in white tops and denims. Yeah, we're pretty basic, I know.

"Yeah, exactly that and to top it off, their lawyer tried to lie about them hiding the assets even though it was clear as day." Evan grimaced.

I am not exactly clueless about what's happening but I'm not exactly an expert in the field either. Meaning, I have no clue about what's going on. My professors would not be proud.

"And the mildly annoying part is that the debts have been discharged", Hugo added.

"Hold on, why did they discharge the debts if they knew about the hidden assets?", Hazel enquired as she sipped her hot chocolate. Glad to know that I'm not the only one confused here. Love you girl.

"Just think about your question Haze and you will have your answer", Hugo rolled his eyes, "they obviously didn't know.

The assets were transferred to someone else's account at the time of the procedures and now that they are back in the light, the discharge of creditors has to be lifted off and they owe them whatever amount they owed and they have to pay a penalty as well." he explained, "honestly, I don't know why they even tried to lie and get away with it because now they have to pay more than the original penalty".

Evan nodded in agreement as he gulped a sip of his drink. Wow, so no one's going to talk about how it was stupid to even hide the assets in the beginning?!

"You know what, the directors are loaded as fuck. I think they had guaranteed their properties as one of the collaterals", Ev said, "but now they're backing off, saying that they aren't liable for clearing off the debts"

"How exactly do their problems affect your company?", Hazel questioned, clearly losing interest in this discussion.

"Well, father dearest gave them a sort of a loan, despite knowing that they're our rival and now we are in a hazy (Hazel let out a light chuckle at the unintentional "pun") situation because we don't know if we'll ever recover that amount, which might I add was a huge one.", Hugo informed us as he rolled his eyes.

Now this was something I knew about. My time to shine people.

"Wait, Mr Brown established that firm, right?", I asked for confirmation.

"I think so, yeah. He handed off the management to his son a long time back. God, his son is a total asshole Al, the exact opposite of Mr Brown. He brought huge changes to the company which had a pleasant impact for some time and that's when they rivalled us but now, they've obviously gone down", said Evan, looking annoyed.

"Dude, they're rolling in the dough, I guess you will recover the money if they play right?", I said, in hopes of lifting their mood.

"Alice, do you really think people will "play right", especially when they're about to lose a lot?"

I rolled my eyes at my twin as I turned back to Evan. "What about the other directors? Are they any better?"

"No offense but like, can we talk about something else?", Haze whined. "I'm bored! please don't turn this into your board meetings"

We laughed as we turned our attention to the food that had been placed in front of us.

"Is it just me or do you think we're turning into the boring adults we once despised?", Hugo asked out of nowhere.
