Ellis was bouncing Meredith in her arms. She had called for an ambulance, her daughter desperately needed the best help she could get

"Help my baby!" Ellis yelled as they ran into the room

"Miss, we need to know what happened" The guy asked as he took Meredith out of Ellis' arms

"I'm Doctor Grey. It's my daughter! She's sick!" She screamed and started crying

"I'm gonna give you something to calm down" The woman said and handed Ellis a pill to calm down. They were told to look out for Ellis and Meredith Grey, as they had reported her back in the hospital

"I don't need anything!" Ellis got slightly aggressive

"Okay, but we need to hurry. Your daughter is in bad shape" The woman said, not wanting to cause issues with Ellis while the little girl was barely holding on

...

"We found Meredith Grey!" The woman announced as Ellis' eyes went wide. The people from the ambulance told her they'd go to another hospital but had secretly announced seattle grace that they were on their way so Ellis could be interrogated

"Bring her inside, now!" We should empty her stomach and give her fluids!" Dr Robbins ordered

"We need the best hands here!" Dr Shepherd yelled as they did whatever was needed to save the little girl

"Found 3 injection spots!" Dr Robbins informed the others

"She's showing bruises on her cheeks and neck" Christopher said "We should make sure her neck is supported!"

"She's crashing!" A doctor screamed right when Richard walked inside

"Meredith-" He gasped and ran towards her

"Dr Webber, you need to leave!" Dr Robbins said

"Christopher - Save my little girl. Please" Richard begged

"Dr Webber-" Carolyn Shepherd spoke up and took him outside

"How could she?! Meredith is such a wonderful kid!" He yelled as he was furious about what she had done to her little girl

"No one understands, Dr Webber. Dr Grey is sick, she needs help" Carolyn tried to calmly reply but could feel the anger boiling inside her own body

"She's such a small girl.. She didn't do anything wrong!" Richard slid down with his back against the wall

"Let the doctors do their job" Carolyn rubbed his back

The two kept sitting there, waiting for some news. Carolyn had asked Richard if there was anyone who should be informed but her heart broke when she found out Richard was the only one in Meredith's life

"Richard!" They heard Christopher's voice and both adults jumped on their feet

...

The next day Richard was still sitting with Meredith. He was half asleep in the chair but held tightly onto Meredith's hand. Christopher was sitting with them, he wanted to make sure Meredith had someone here, he had discussed it with his wife

They barely knew the girl but had decided they wanted her to have people that gave her love and made her feel like she was wanted

"Nnnn-" They heard something

"Meredith?" Richard jumped up

"Meredith, sweetie?" Christopher grabbed his penlight and pressed the nurse button

"Mmmm" Meredith slowly opened her eyes, they widened in fear before tears started spilling "Riiii.. Riiiiiiichh" She tried to say

"It's okay, sweetie. I'm here. I'm here" He tried to calm her down

"R-Richhhhardd" Meredith cried

"Slow down Meredith." Christopher lifted the girl in his arms and laid down "Everything will be okay from now on" He promised her "We got this"

"Mm-mmom?" Meredith quietly asked as she looked around her in fear

"You won't see her again, Meredith. Your mom is very sick, something called munchausen by proxy, you won't have to worry any longer"

...

A few weeks later Richard and Meredith were with Ruby, Meredith's speech therapist. She had developed apraxia due to the overdose Ellis had given her

"Meredith, can you tell me about what you did today?" The woman asked

"D-Daddy I.. uh.. play. Play lots" Meredith tried as she held tightly onto Richard's hand. She has been calling him daddy since she was struggling so bad with his name and it always resulted in her being mad at herself for not being able to clearly say it

"Very good, princess" Richard smiled "Maybe tell Ruby about our ice cream accident" He winked

"D-Daddy ice cream floor. Drop ice cream f-floor" Meredith giggled

"Did he? And did you help him clean it up?" Ruby asked

"N-No. Laugh. Me laugh" Meredith smiled

"She just kept laughing" Richard smiled

"That sounds like a fun day. Meredith, do you like living with Richard?" Ruby asked the little girl who immediately nodded "Can you explain in words?" Ruby pushed

"Happy yes" Meredith smiled "L-Love" She looked up at Richard and he gave her a hug

"I love you too, monkey" He embraced her

"Meredith, have you been spending time with some friends or kids of your age?" Ruby asked

"Yes. A-Amy. D-Der and M-Mark" She nodded

"Those are the kids of another doctor from this hospital. They offered to watch Meredith sometimes and now the four kids are having a blast every time they meet. They don't seem to care about Meredith's speech difficulties" He smiled proudly

"L-Love" Meredith smiled

"You love them, that's right. And you're going over this afternoon as well after we had lunch, right?" Richard asked

"Y-Yes" Meredith nodded her head with a smile
