"Mer, sweetheart. Try to stay awake for me, please" Richard frowned as he held the girl in his arms while the emergency team entered the house

"What do we have here?" They asked and let Richard lay the girl down on the gurney

"Meredith Grey, 5 years old and has been admitted several times in the past months. We can't find a cause, she keeps getting sicker and sicker" Ellis told them

"Come Ellis, we have to come with her" Richard led her into the ambulance as they also started to load Meredith inside

"R-Richard-" Meredith muttered as she was falling asleep

"Keep your eyes open, sweetie. Stay with us, okay? We're in the ambulance now" He held her hand

"No.." Meredith muttered

"But baby-" Ellis started crying

Richard tried to sooth Ellis but couldn't just leave Meredith on her own, the girl was terrified of hospitals already and hated the loud sirens of the ambulance

"R-Richard.." Meredith muttered and fell unconscious

"Meredith?" Richard said, fear hearable in his voice

"I got the blood results!" An intern yelled as she ran into the room where several doctors were gathering to find out the mystery illness Meredith had

"Hmm.." Christopher was reading the results but frowned "Did they give her a sedative?" He frowned

"No. She was fighting consciousness" Another doctor replied

"Did she take sleeping pills or something?" Christopher opened Meredith's chart even if he knew it by heart "No.. She didn't" He frowned

"Run those tests again" Dr Robbins ordered

"I'm going to do them myself" He frowned and went to the examination room to run some more bloodwork and ran off with the sample to get it tested with absolute priority

Meanwhile Ellis felt something was up. They shouldn't have taken a second sample except if they suspected something. Ellis knew she was stupid for using her own sleeppills and handing them to Meredith but she just needed to get Meredith help. Her daughter deserved the best care, at least that was what she told herself, even if the doctor inside her knew this wasn't right

"Meredith, come on. We're going for a little walk" She lifted her daughter who was still asleep "Don't make a fuss, okay?" She kept talking to her daughter despite the girl being asleep

Some of the staff were staring at Ellis but no one tried to stop her as they had no idea what was going on but they all knew better than to stop THE Ellis Grey, scared she'd start yelling at them

"Yes, Dr Shepherd. She has received sleeping pills, a pretty high dose, especially for such a small and young child" The labo tech told Christopher

"Thanks Paul" He nodded and ran off to the room Meredith was in

"Dr Shepherd! Where are Meredith and Ellis?" Richard frowned

"What do you mean?" Christopher frowned and opened the door, finding it completely empty

...

"Can you take us to 303 W Comstock?" Ellis asked as she stepped into the cab

"Is the little girl okay?" The taxi driver asked

"Yeah she just had a procedure done but she's fine, just sleepy" Ellis softly smiled and the taxi driver drove them home "Thank you, keep the rest" Ellis said as she got out and quickly carried Meredith inside. She placed the girl on the couch and grabbed a bag and ran to her office where she collected all the meds she used to make Meredith sick. She threw them in the bag and quickly ran back to the living room, lifting the girl back in her arms and grabbing the car keys

Ellis didn't bother to properly buckle in the girl who was asleep on the backseat. She threw the bag in the back of the car and got in, immediately driving away out of the city. She heard her phone ringing but just ignored it. She didn't wanna pick up her phone and just turned it off

Ellis had carried her daughter into the hostel room she had rented. It looked abandoned but was perfect for them.

"Richard?" Meredith started to wake up and called out for her stepdad

"Meredith, sweetie. Mommy here, how are you feeling?" Ellis asked and noticed Meredith almost wanted to back off "Why are you scared? I'm not gonna hurt you" Ellis said

"I wanna go home" Meredith whispered as she looked around the room

"No, sweety. We need to get you help first. You're a very very sick girl" Ellis quietly said and opened the bag she had packed, there were all kinds of meds in it and she opened a small box, with some needles and a bottle with some liquids inside. She quickly prepared the injection while Meredith's eyes widened in fear and Ellis injected Meredith the first time. She repeated her actions, this time with another medicine and grabbed Meredith's arm again

"No! I'm scared!" Meredith whimpered

"Meredith, baby girl. It's okay, sweetie. It will be okay" Ellis kissed Meredith's forehead and pulled the girl in her lap, giving her the second injection. She noticed Meredith got slower and repeated her action, injecting her with the third shot. Meredith was crying in pain but Ellis was completely lost in her own world "It's working, baby girl. You're getting better. Now you need to take your pills, will you be a good girl for mommy?" Ellis asked

"Mommy-" Meredith cried when Ellis put some pills in Meredith's mouth. The first round she could swallow but the second round was getting much harder as she was crying

Ellis just pushed the pills down Meredith's throat

"You need to take these, sweetie" Ellis kissed Meredith's forehead as the girl slowly lost consciousness "You will feel so much better. I promise the doctors will care about you this time, they will finally help you" Ellis promised and kissed Meredith's head again, cuddling the girl in her arms as if she was a baby

So I had my final two exams today and I'm pretty sure I passed these two! I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and I'm gonna try and sleep a bit bcs I barely slept hahaha. Thanks everyone for wishing me goodluck and stuff, I really appreciate it!
