Clarke gets several blissfully long hours of sleep before a whine of pain rips her quickly from her dreams. Blue eyes popping open and blinking a couple times before rushing to Lexa's side.

"Hey, it's okay." Clarke soothes, holding Lexa's hand and wiping the tears that trickle down her face. Quickly pushing the nurses call button on her bed.

"She awake?" Bev asks, making Clarke smirk.

"Yeah, and in quite a bit of pain." Clarke relays as she hears a hum and quick footsteps coming their way. A total of three nurses come racing in that has her heart swell in gratefulness. Treating Lexa like she is one of their own just by default.

"Hey sweetheart. I know it hurts. I have something that will help fix that." Bev hums, twisting the syringe onto the IV port. The other two are quickly checking incisions and road rash spots for infection due to the spleen injury. They had to check these more often and stay on top of them thanks to the increased risk of infection now. It was also why Clarke worked so hard on repairing the spleen and not just taking it out. Removing the spleen, while it is doable, costs quite a bit of immunity to the patient. Infection is quite easy without the organ that helps to filter blood out.

Bev disposes of the syringe and comes up towards Lexa's head across from Clarke. Scanning Lexa's forehead for a fever and nodding in approval.

"Good girl. No fever. That is what we want." Bev hums more for Clarke's sanity but it is appreciated regardless.

"Claarr..." Lexa croaks in a heart wrenching whimper.

"I'm right here, Lexa. Right here." Clarke soothes, reaching over to hold her face in her hands. Gingerly wiping tears as they fall down her cheeks. "I would never leave you. I am still right here." She hums soothingly, ignoring the movement of the nurses around them or that they are overhearing this. At this moment it is just the two of them and that is all that matters. "You are so strong, Lexa. So strong and so brave." She continues rubbing comforting circles on her cheekbones long after Lexa falls back to sleep, and nurses gradually trickle back out of their room. Only then does Clarke gently tuck a piece of that curly brown hair behind Lexa's ear and begin to pull blankets up around her. Sitting heavily back down in that chair and scooting it a bit closer to the bed. Reaching out to hold Lexa's hand and unable to help the smile that works on her face when she feels Lexa latch on tightly to her hand right back. Even though she is sound asleep in this drug hazed stupor. Clarke continues to rub comforting circles on the back of Lexa's hand until she falls asleep beside her. Leaned over resting alongside the hand she is still holding tightly in her own.

This is how Bev finds them an hour later when she comes to check on them. Smiling, she simply pulls another blanket out and drapes it over Clarke's shoulders as she sleeps. She only gets a couple hours of paperwork done before she hears the familiar sound of heels walking down the hospital hallway. But not just any heels, those are the heels of Chief Abby Griffin on a warpath. She had heard that exact sound far too many times to count by now and thanks her lucky stars the nurse's station is in front of the hallway those girls are in. Not even getting up as she glares furiously at the chief without any hesitation.

"Absolutely not. I just got them back to sleep." Bev warns seriously. Abby huffs and rolls her eyes without stopping.

"Woman, if you make me get out of this chair. I will not hesitate to tackle you to the floor before you reach that door." Bev deadpans seriously. Every single nurse and doctor within earshot stops whatever they are doing to look over at them. If that was going down, there was no way any of them were missing that once in a lifetime sight. And it is ONLY the fact that Abby had in fact seen Bev do this MULTIPLE times with out-of-control patients over the years that stops the hot-headed woman in her tracks.
