The next time Lexa wakes she groggily finds Clarke and her mother whispering to each other in the corner of the room in what looks to be a heated conversation. A nurse is standing next to them holding a pale pink basin looking as though she would rather be ANYWHERE other than here. It takes Lexa a couple of long minutes to realize both Griffin women are talking far too quietly to overhear anything that is being said. So she continues to watch them animatedly talk to one another and the nurse awkwardly shifts from foot to foot.

"Clarke, she needs to give her consent. You know this just as well as I do." Abby whispers authoritatively.

"I know... it's just..." Clarke sighs frustratedly rubbing her tired eyes like this is magically going to help the situation.

"And you know why we should remove it at least...". Abby begins.

"48 hours before discharge... yeah yeah..." Clarke grumbles not liking this at all but knows the alternative choice here would only cause Lexa more distress. I mean if the situation were reversed Clarke is almost positive she would die of embarrassment if she leaked piss all over this hot woman's place after she literally saved her life.

"So you might as well do it when I can be the bad guy and not you," Abby whispers as Clarke's eyes whip up stunned.

"What's going on?" Lexa groggily asks, confused.

Abby looks over at her only daughter and waits for the subtle nod before walking over to the brunette in the hospital bed.

"Hey there. Did you sleep well?" Abby asks warmly as she approaches the bed.

"Is something wrong? Did something happen?" Lexa asks worriedly, looking over at Clarke's face and flicking back repeatedly to Abby's.

"Oh no. Your scans looked great. So well, we are discussing letting you go home in the next day or so." Abby smiles.

"Really?" Lexa asks excitedly as her face lights up.

"Yep. But in order to begin to discharge you to go home that means we need to do certain things to prepare you for that." Abby begins and suddenly Lexa understands the look all over Clarke's face.

"Currently you have what's called a foley catheter placed through your urethra into your bladder to allow your urine to pass into a drainage bag, which allows us to measure your urine output and monitor your renal function. This was important during your surgery and for the first few days following it, however now you no longer need this in place, and since complication risks increase the longer one is in, I would like to remove yours sooner rather than later. A nurse will need to deflate the balloon that keeps the end of the catheter in your bladder so it can be removed. You will likely experience some bladder and urethral weakness for 24-48 hours afterward as your body adjusts to using those muscles again, and some leakage may occur. During this time it's important that you don't put excess effort into urinating, let your urine pass on its own without any straining while your muscles heal."

Green eyes flick over to Clarke for an explanation.

"The bag of piss attached to you." Clarke deadpans causing a loud snort of laughter from the nurse before she can help it. Lexa looks over at said bag and again begins to follow the tubing until her green eyes grow exponentially in size.

The moment that realization hits is when it all goes downhill quite quickly from there. Her heart rate shot up thanks to Lexa now hyperventilating at this fun new information. Monitors start to chirp angrily at the sudden spike of movement making their hospital room suddenly the most popular location for every nurse that was sitting behind the nurse's station.

All of it is just too much. The feelings. The vulnerability. The sudden feeling of tears welling in her eyes has Lexa tossing her head back to prevent them from falling.
