The second Abby walks into the room again, Clarke is on the bed next to Lexa attempting to translate the play by play of the latest Harry Potter movie on the tv... and by the confused look on Lexa's face it seems the endeavor is not all that successful.... Adorable... yet obviously not successful just the same. The heavy door shutting causes both heads to whip around to watch the woman laden with lunch bags and a tote bag over one shoulder full of books. It takes all of two seconds before Lexa's tan hand is thrust out at Abby to admire.
"Look!" Lexa gushes extravagantly like she is wearing a million dollar diamond on her hand instead of the 50 cent plastic variety. A small smile begins to form at the corner of Clarke's mouth as her blue eyes watch the confusion all over her mother's face. Blinking a few times and glaring suspiciously between the two girls on the bed before she finally turns to finish putting everything down on the counter. Setting down the Lunch bags in both hands, situating them just so, before the shoulder bag is placed heavily next to them. Then, and only then, does Abby turn on her heel to investigate.
"Clarke... when I inquired about getting her a ring... this is not what I meant." Abby sighs in exasperation with a pointed look at her weird child.
"Should've been more specific..." Clarke shrugs with the biggest shit eating grin of her life. All but relishing this moment more than Lexa had ever seen someone do.
"But this one lights up!!" Lexa grins pushing the button, causing a snort of laughter to escape from Abby.
"And how much did you pay me while attempting to win this?" Abby smirks recognizing the toy ring immediately as she turns to go dish out lunch. The simple comment all but wipes that smirk right off Clarke's face. Erupting in a shrill gasp of offense falling from her lips that has Lexa chuckling and Abby grinning as she pulls out various to-go boxes to inspect the contents.
"Oh calm down... it all goes to the hospital charity. Plus it will more than likely cost me more to refill than whatever you blew through in an attempt to win it." Abby sighs in exasperation.
"Well in that case if you see an extravagantly accessorized toddler on the peds floor. You're welcome." Clarke grins triumphantly and goes to stand to help her mom with the food.
"Sit!!" Abby barks. Clarke blinks and sinks back down next to Lexa bewilderedly.
"They won't even let me stand up anymore..." Clarke mutters to herself earning a snort from Lexa before she can stifle it. Totally missing her mother arranging both meals on the rolling lunch table until it is moved into place over their laps. Hearing her mother lock the wheels on the table before spinning around to get their drinks so domestically it has her chuckling under her breath. Her mother does this sometimes. All of a sudden tries to be a suzy homemaker all in one go at the most random moments. It's almost like she is trying to make up for all the work nights and not being able to cook to save her life or something. Either way Clarke has always found it cute. It also seems Lexa is quite appreciative of the gesture. Especially knowing she never got to experience things like this before. Although this might be why her mother is going to so many lengths like this. Only causing Clarke to find all of this that much cuter now as she pops her to go box open.
"Alright Mac and Cheese!" Clarke cheers shrilly and excitedly tears her silverware. Freezing with her fork loaded up and halfway to her mouth when she spots what is inside of Lexa's to go box. Blonde head slowly turning to look from the pile of green stuff in that box to the face beside her. All while Lexa is attempting to keep a straight face as she chews and pretends not to notice. Abby rolls her eyes at her kid's dramatics as she shits in her spot.
"Well, I for one was quite delighted to have someone with an adult palette!" Abby declares as she digs into her own salad. "You are right. These are good!" She groans in approval as Lexa smiles at her.
