It feels like an eternity when Lexa starts to resurface again. Subtle beeps start to intermingle within her drug filled haze of a dream. She hates this part, the come back into reality. Being ripped from the blissful fantasy world of her own creation and thrust right into the pain. The soul aching hurt from every inch of her body. The mere fact that she can't move without someone helping her is honestly just as overwhelming. Simply because, for all of her life, Lexa had always been so fiercely independent. It made this entire experience that much more jarring to swallow. It was SO incredibly foreign for Lexa to ever ALLOW anyone to help her at all. Yet now all of a sudden, she doesn't have a choice. It feels off. Like it isn't actually real somehow. Even though logically Lexa knows it is. Each inhale of breath her chest slowly rises and eventually falls back down when she exhales. She can feel the cool blankets around her body keeping her warm against the hospital AC. Hears the beeping sound of her heart monitor and that low hum of the hospital. But the moment Lexa opens her eyes to test what she can see, what she finds is not expected. In fact, Lexa simply freezes when she doesn't find Clarke right in front of her like before. No leaning blonde resting her head on her bed sleeping from the nearby chair. She isn't quite sure what to do with it so she just stares at where Clarke should be for a solid minute. Almost as if she is expecting Clarke to just reappear if she stares at this spot long enough.

Eventually Lexa finds herself turning to discover what that unfamiliar noise is. Both eyebrows raise at finding Clarke, passed the hell out, and snoring unabashedly on that couch bed. A little smirk slowly moves across Lexa's face knowing she was right. It is bewildering to her that someone would stay awake THAT long just for her, especially since Clarke doesn't even know her at all. They just met. It makes no sense, but it makes her heart skip a beat thinking about it, so she just dismisses it as a doctor thing.

She stays like this for quite some time, quietly watching the blonde sleeping and ignoring her own pain in the process. Finding herself wondering how many times Clarke had to sleep like this in her life. A tiny child who should have been given the world as a Griffin, instead forced to sleep on these cold hospital couches. It was far from what she expected from someone like that. I mean she remembered daydreaming as a child of what it would be like to grow up as a rich kid like the law legacies did. Or so they thought it seemed. She couldn't tell you why, but the thought makes Lexa sad. I mean she never had a room to herself growing up, but the fact Clarke didn't get to enjoy hers seems just as cruel. It pulls at places inside of Lexa's heart that she had long shut off and she isn't sure how to feel about it quite yet. Especially under this much medication. A quiet opening of the door has Lexa sloppily turning her head and smiling groggily at Bev carrying in their lunch. Abby comes in right behind her carrying a couple more bags that have Lexa grinning in amusement. Both women silently set the food down and smirk at Clarke almost as much as Lexa. But right as Lexa turns to go rouse the snoring blonde, Bev stops her. Frowning in confusion, Lexa watches as Abby pulls a white to-go box from the top of the bag and walks over to her daughter. Subtly opening it and revealing what looks to be a cheeseburger with fries. Abby smirks right at Lexa while she wafts the food in front of her kid's nose causing an instant gasp of pure excitement and Clarke flying upright. Hands already out grabbing at the burger and moaning as she shovels it into her mouth.

"Works every time." Abby shrugs with a smirk as she goes back to continue passing out food. Both Lexa's eyebrows are raised to the ceiling as she laughs VERY softly at the crazy blonde beside her. She's learned the hard way how to laugh without hurting her ribs. All this stops though when Lexa sees that she too gets a to go box like everyone else. Those green eyes widen with such innocence that it steals Clarke's breath away for just a second. Mid chew stopping to smile at the captivated woman too stunned to speak at getting real food.

"I get one too?" Lexa finally whispers a few minutes after watching Bev set it on her food tray for her.

"Of course." Abby nods in a matter-of-fact manner with a hint of a smile.
