Zeref Pov.

"So she'll only speak to me?" I asked. Mavis's parents nodded, as I was guided to her hospital room. I was getting curious and suspicious. Mavis must be up to something. But what? Hopefully it'll end up being like, 'ha, this was all a joke I'm fine!"

As I entered her room I knew instantly that wasn't the case. My eyes widened. Oh, my, god. Mavis was extremely pale, no colour in her face. Dark circles around her eyes, hair was tangled and messy, her body looked fragile and weak. She lost weight. I gulped, shocked by her appearance. She looks different. Drained from her usual bursting energy. She's not herself. Nor should she be, with what's going on... But what is truly going on?

"Hey, Mavis." I spoke quietly, she faced me suddenly, and gave a smile. I returned one as well. I sat by the edge of her hospital bed, and she instantly reached for my hand. I could feel myself shaking. I was nervous. Anxious to hear any, tiny ounce of good news.

Her parents found themselves wandering out of the room, probably it's because Mavis has something to tell me. Only me.

"Hey Zeref, thanks for coming." She seemed glad to see me, but she doesn't have to thank me at all. I'd be there in a heart beat for her.

"So, how are things going?" I asked, looking at her. She laughed at my question. Yeah, it's a pretty stupid obvious one.

"Well what does it look like? I'm not very pretty huh?" She chuckles softly. I shake my head.

"I don't think it matters what state you're in, nothing can steal the creative beauty from your eyes." I told her, which was a very fascinating true fact.

"You know always just what to say, Zeref. Why is that? You're crazy wise." She informed me, pointing at my forehead.

"I could say the exact same thing about you." I told her.

"There's a reason why I wanted to speak with you." She spoke up quickly. I eyed her face, it was refusing to brake from it's serious posture. I nodded.

"If there's a reason, just tell me it."

"I have a request to ask you." She started, "and I know it's going to seem like a lot, but I hope you understand." Her voice, was like a mask hiding something, shielding her actual emotion inside. Which was surly braking. "I really need you to do this for me. Please." Her eyes were wide, seconds away from watering.

"Mavis, you really can be foolish." I said, "if for a minute you think I wouldn't do anything for you, then you really are a fool." She gave a grin, lifting her arms around my neck, embracing me in a hug. I held on to her tightly. I didn't want to let go, I didn't want to ever feel like she was leaving me. Like I'd lose her. But I knew I would be feeling that.

"I love you, you know." She said, her tone was a sob. I could feel her tears running down my neck.

"I know, because I love you too." I replied, tracing my fingers through her hair. We broke apart after a long while, Mavis wiped away her tears.

"So, what is this request?" I asked her. she stiffened, and let out a breath.

"Break me out of the hospital." It took time for her words to actually reach me. The idea is insane! Brake her out of the hospital? Can I even do that? She is serious right? Her face was dead serious. She's not joking. I sighed.

"Firstly, can I ask why?"

"Sure, it's because I need you to take me to the tree. That one in the park. Where we seem to confess everything to each other. I need you to take me there." She says, with all certainty. Of course. That tree. I guess we do seem to fess up to things there. I nodded.

"Yes, I'll take you there." My words were hopefully just as certain as hers.

"Promise?"

"Promise."
