2 hours, I sat down in the class for two good hours listening to the woman who introduced herself earlier as Mrs Lilian preach.
" Omo this is not what I signed up for o" I muttered to myself
"Aswr you just talk wetin dey my mind" a small girl replied in pidgin smiling. She was light and beautiful too.
" What's your name"I ask as my jovial nature wouldn't let me keep quiet
"Praise....what about you?" She asks
" Kenny" I say
" Te_ ny?" She tries to pronounce it and ended up pronouncing it wrongly.
" It's Kenny....not what you're pronouncing" I corrected.
"Kenny....I'm Rachael"a girl at the edge of the row I was seating said and came closer.
"Te_ny do you have the timetable with you?" The girl at my Back said......uhm can somebody just tell them my name is Kenny. I yelled in my head.
" Yes i do... And it's Kenny" I say giving her my timetable so she'll take a picture of it.
"You no get English name?" Praise said and I closed my eyes....is Kenny not sounding English enough? Okay pardon me for being unfriendly but I was already stressed....I came to school for class but I got a sermon class instead with " bunch of kids" that find it difficult to pronounce Kenny. So don't blame me.
"Daniella.... that's my English name" I say.
"Daniella I like that one" praise said. Give me your number please" she says and I gave her. Soon, the 15 people that are in class already knew my name and asked for my number and I knew theirs too..... Guess who was sounding like a queen bee....me!.
"I'll be seeing you guys tomorrow....then we can start our first semester lecture" she says walking out of the class. Phew thank God.
"Kenny can you please give me your note" the girl sitting at the front of Rachael said. She was calm and collected unlike me.
"Yeah.... what's your name?" I ask handing her my note.
"Goodness" she says smiling....
"You're beautiful tho" I say....
"I was about saying the same thing....I love your dimples" she says and damn! My self confidence went up 100%.
"Thank you" I said smiling. Soon people started trooping dddin like they just released them from God knows where but soon the hall was full and the rate of beautiful girls I was seeing here was just oh my God!. Now don't think anything funny because I was admiring girls but the boys, I'm sorry to say were nothing I expected not that I'm insulting God's creation but...... then I sighted a set of twins....they looked very much alike and I was hoping they were Yoruba. I walked up to them eager to make friends with them.
"Hiiii" I say ......and they both looked up and smile.
"Hiiiii" they both said in sync.
"I'm sorry for disturbing, I just love seeing twins together cause I'm one" I say smiling.
"Awwwwn look at the dimples.....so what's your name?" The most beautiful one among them ask?
"I'm kenny.....so which one of you is Odion and which is Akhere"( the name Benin people give their twin children....just like Taye and kehinde in Yoruba land.)
"I'm Odion, and she is Akhere" the less friendly one said. Obviously you'll be Odion.
"Kenny I swear hunger want to kill me" Seun said shouting as she walked from the entrance.
"I have to go now....it was nice knowing you" I say walking with seun to my seat.
"Who is this fine girl?" Rachael ask
"Guys this is my best friend, her name is Seun......Seun this is Rachael, Goodness, Tems, Blessed, Angel, Naomi and pearl....and the twins there that's Odion and Akhere." I say pointing everyone out.
"I didn't say you can call me Odion, my name is Sauce" She says giving off one kind of energy I didn't like. One thing i hated was someone with low self-esteem trying to boost thier confidence by humiliating me.
"Sauce as in yam sauce?" Praise asked making everyone laugh. She rolled her eyes at praise before standing up
"No sauce as in....."
"We actually don't care if it's source or sauce.....sauce is sauce" I say smiling. I didn't think that would make sense but that was the only thing my brain could process at that moment.
"I swear sauce na sauce oh....." Rachael said laughing again..... apparently everyone didn't like Source's vibe.
"Please let's go before hunger finish me" Seun says pulling me outside with her. After walking aimlessly around for 5 minutes, we finally got where to buy something to eat. That's where I saw a guy....he was so lean, he looked like he would be carried by the wind if he was not putting on that heavy schoolbag he was carrying. I knew the bag was heavy from the way his back was bent.
"I could have just lied that my name was between the range of A to I ....and I'll be in East wing and not west wing,those people are not happy people. I was bored out of my mind" seun complained.
"I'm sorry do you mean A to I are supposed to be in East wing?" The thin boy asked.
"Yes"I and seun said in sync.
" Eweeeeeey.....my surname starts with a letter E and I spent the first two periods in West wing" he exclaimed
"Trust me you haven't missed out a lot of things.....I can lend my note to you so you'll see what you missed" I say
"Thank you.....my name is Rex by the way"
"I'm kenny and this is Seun"I say.
"Let me go and get settled first....I'll see you in class" Rex says and leave.
Nothing interesting happened outside I just went back inside after buying my cold Chapman with eggroll and meat pie. I walk to my seat and settled down to munch my lunch.
"Uhm....I forgot your name" Rex said walking up to my table
"Kenny" I say smiling.
"Tell me your other name apart from Kenny". Ahn ahn. What's so difficult in Kenny.
" Daniella" I say.
"Yes that one is easier to remember.....now can I see you biology note?". Rex says and I turned around to check my note in my bag. I gave Rex the note and as I turned to close my bag that was when my eye caught the most beautiful creature I've ever seen.
Dear reader, I didn't have a thing for fair guys, no offense to the fair guys out there though, I have always preferred my dark skinned naija boys but this creature that I was looking at caught my attention.
What captivated my soul was his brown eyes, he had this beautiful brown eyes and perfectly carved nose above his beautiful lips on his well sculptured face. Guys this boy fine die.
I am not the type to drool over guys buh......here I am shamelessly checking out a complete stranger.....I think I've found something interesting and I'm willing to explore....
