What does it mean to be an artist?
To be able to sing beautiful notes,
To be able to write emotional stories,
To be able to paint memorable pictures,
To be able to create things that carry,
You make worlds out of words,
You mold Greek gods out of clay,
You bring people to tears and chills with the power of your voice,
And while the artworks you make are stunning, breathtaking, heartbreaking,
You forget that there's more than one masterpiece in the room,
I sit across from you, in awe at something so remarkable,
And when I am the first in line,
the first person to bear witness to your newest piece,
I find more than one artwork to take in,
The smile in your eyes sets me ablaze,
The glow you radiate is heavenly,
Your excitement is intoxicating,
Your impatience is so endearing,
On the edge of your seat with anticipation,
Smudged paint, ink, paint,
A whirlwind of hair and rumpled clothes,
Cramped hands, aching muscles,
And when I have to pleasure to review your newest work,
When I see the care, the thought you poured into it,
I don't just see the artwork you made,
I see the hidden tendrils of your mind,
Because behind it all,
I see you, in the lines in between.

From one artist to another, I see the work and care you put into your creations. While there is plenty to admire about the works themselves, I think we often forget that others may be admiring us too.
Keep up the good work, the world always needs more creativity, beauty, and love to go around. God knows we seem to be in short supply.
Stay safe.
