Martinez Residences (Juan's POV)

It was another morning, and I sat up from the bed as always.

However, I soon hear my phone ringing and answered the call right away.

"Hello?" I groggily asked,

"Hello, Juan" I widened my eyes as soon as I recognized the caller,

"Uncle?" I presumed,

"You guessed it," Juan's uncle responded, "How you've been these days,"

"Not much, but I did do well with a few cases in my career," I responded,

"I see... But I'm not just talking about your career, Juan," Juan's uncle remarked,

I hummed in confusion as I listened to what followed from my uncle.

"I was wondering..." Juan's uncle pauses for a dramatic moment, then reveals it a few moments later, "Do you have a girlfriend yet?"

I slightly opened my mouth at this question, then I pinched the bridge of my nose later, "Seriously? You're asking me that question?"

"I'm just curious, that's all," Juan's uncle said,

"I'll give you one answer," I said, "No, I don't... Not yet at least,"

"That's two answers, I'll take your word for it," Juan's uncle remarked, "But that reminds me, how are the girls doing so far?"

"They're well, but Christine is a few months before graduation," I explained, "As for Liza, she's doing well with her grades as of late. You should see it for yourself,"

"I will if I get the chance," Juan's uncle promised,

"But what about you, Uncle? How are you doing so far?" I questioned,

"I've been working for the past few days. but I'm doing well enough," Juan's uncle said, "In fact, I'm getting close to having a day off soon,"

"In that case," I stand up from bed, "I'll see you very soon?"

"I'll guarantee it," Juan's uncle said, "But anyway, Good luck on your next case. If there is one,"

"There's always a case to solve, Uncle," I remarked, "And before you go, Tell Auntie I said hi,"

"I'll let her know," Juan's uncle assured,

"Alright, see you later," I said,

"You too," Juan's uncle then hung up the call,

Afterward, I went downstairs, provided a meal for my sisters, and brought them to school before going to work once more...

Grimsbourough Police Station

As soon as I walked through the doors, Jones had already appeared before you.

"Hey, Juan! Chief's calling us, Says it's urgent," Jones said,

"I'll be right there," I replied, as went to my locker to get a few things before joining up with Jones at the Chief's office,

As we arrive, we saluted to Chief King as usual.

"At ease," Samuel ordered, and we complied with his order, "Now, onto the matter at hand. There has been terrible news that Detective Ed Dunkin was just found dead in the Queen Street subway station,"
