Not that he had expected dying to be pleasant, but man Kenma was really tired of everything. A week ago he'd completely lost the ability to walk- on top of the problems the cancer caused in his brain, he was also too weak- and now he was struggling to talk.

Sighing, Kenma leaned into Kuroo as his boyfriend braided the hair out of his face.

"It's only nine in the morning and you already look miserable," Kuroo muttered. Kenma knew that Kuroo hated seeing him like this. But despite how utterly awful he felt, everything was better with Kuroo around.

"Mhm... Feels better with you here."

Kuroo finished braiding Kenma's hair and kissed the top of his head. "I'm glad. So, other than being miserable, how are you feeling? You're not as pale as you were yesterday."

"Good. I f- found someone to take over my company... He knows a lot about games."

"Oh that's good!" Kuroo rested his head on Kenma's shoulders and hugged him. "What do you want to do today, darling? I'd offer to get you in that wheelchair and take you to the garden, but it's supposed to storm soon."

"It's going to... Storm?"

"Yeah, it is. But it'll be okay. I am right here and I won't leave your side. So what can I do to distract you, hmm? We could watch a movie, play a game, or I could see if anyone else wants to come visit."

"Movie."

"Excellent choice. And if I recall, it's your turn to pick. So what do you wanna watch?"

"Mmm... Avengers."

Kuroo grinned. "Now we're talking. Which one?"

A small smile appeared on Kenma's face. He knew that Kuroo loves Marvel, and Kenma does himself, so he was happy to pick one of those movies. Or... Multiple.

"All of them."

"Ooo, a marathon. You are a smart man, Kenma."

Kuroo slid off the bed and turned the TV on before digging through his bag of movies. He let out a triumphant cry and pulled out the movies they'd chosen.

Once the movie was on, the two cuddled up, Kenma's favorite blanket draped over them.

It was about an hour into the first movie when the thunder first started. At first, Kenma barely flinched. But as the storm got worse, so did Kenma's nerves.

Kenma grabbed Kuroo's hand and squeezed it. Gently, Kuroo squeezed back. "It's okay. Hey- look at me, Kenma. It's going to be fine. I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere."

"Y- yeah."

"Just keep watching the movie, darling. It'll pass eventually."

Kenma nodded and layed his head against Kuroo's shoulder. He was right, after all. It would pass eventually.

They went back to watching the movie, Kuroo silently soothing Kenma the whole time. After finishing the first movie, they went on to the second. And then the third. The whole time, the storm went on. Kenma did his best to ignore it, but he couldn't stop the shaking in his hands or his growing panic.

And oh, how it got worse. Just as they'd thought the storm was starting to clear, the rain turned to hail, pounding against the windows, and the lights went out.

"I hate this," Kenma whispered, though his whisper was barely more than a rasp.

Kuroo ran a hand through Kenma's hair and sighed. "I know, darling. But hey, this doesn't have to be a bad thing. It's no different than when we turn the lights out to set the mood, right?"

"You're... Always so positive."

"It helps balance out your moodiness." Kuroo wrapped his arms around Kenma. When thunder clapped outside, Kenma let out a quiet gasp and covered his face.

Kuroo frowned  at him before giving him a comforting kiss. "I promise it'll be over soon, Kenma. You just have to be brave a little bit longer."

"I know. I'm trying."

"And you're doing great."

A few minutes later the lights came back on, which helped Kenma's nerves a bit.

"Is it just me, or does it sound like it's calming down a bit?"

Kuroo was right. The thunder had stopped completely, and the hail was definitely stopping too. Kenma hummed happily and grabbed Kuroo's hand. "Took it long enough."

Laughing, Kuroo sat up and squeezed Kenma's hand. "Before we continue this excellent film, do you need anything? I know you can't really eat, but do you want some hot chocolate? You haven't drank anything today."

"Can I have whipped cream and marshmallows?"

"Since you're having a bad day I'll allow it."

"Not having a bad day."

Kuroo raised a brow. "Even though it stormed?"

"Yeah, but...You're here," Kenma mumbled. He smiled when he saw how happy that made Kuroo.

"Well I'm glad I could help. I love you, Kenma."

"I love you too."
