With a small sigh, Kenma paused his video game and looked up. Standing in the doorway was Kuroo, a soft smile on his face.

Surprising Kuroo, Kenma ran over to him and pulled him into a tight hug.

Kuroo hugged him back, running a hand through his bleached hair. "Kenma..."

"It's bad, Kuroo." A few tears slipped down Kenma's face onto his friend's shoulder. "The tumor came back."

"I know." Kuroo's voice broke. "But you'll be okay. You made a promise to me that I expect you to keep."

Kenma sighed. "... Yeah. I'm okay right now. I'll probably have more seizures, but they shouldn't be too common."

"I wish I could always be here for you."

"Don't even think about dropping out of college for me."

Kuroo laughed quietly. "Don't worry I won't."

They seperated from the hug and Kuroo looked Kenma over for a solid minute before speaking.

"Wanna go get something to eat? Akaashi and Bokuto will be there."

"Sure."

"Where do you want to go?"

Kenma played with his hair. "Anywhere is fine."

Smiling, Kuroo crossed his arms. "Just as decisive as ever I see."

"Oh shut up."

Kuroo layed next to Kenma on the bed, watching as his younger friend pulled a blanket over himself.

Kenma glanced up at him. "You don't have to watch me like that y'know."

"Sorry, I just... Nevermind." Kuroo glanced out the window, around the room, anywhere but in Kenma's direction.

"Are you sure you're okay with sleeping here?"

"Yeah. Ive slept here a thousand times before."

Kenma moved his head to rest it in the crook of Kuroo's shoulder. "Yeah, but... I'm sick now."

"So? That changes nothing, Kenma. You are my best friend whether you're sick or in perfect health. Got it?"

"Yeah."

Kuroo wrapped an arm around Kenma and pulled him closer.

"I gotta tell you something, Kenma."

"Hm?"

"I love you. I have for awhile. So don't think that will change now." Feeling the blush on his face, Kuroo looked down to see Kenma was also blushing. He hadn't meant to be so straightforward about it, but...

"You're an idiot Kuroo. But... I love you too. So I guess you're my idiot."

Kuroo grinned. "I will happily be your idiot."

"You're already doing a good job at that." Kenma glanced up at him. "You were supposed to kiss me like five minutes ago."

"Well alright then." Kuroo smiled and leaned his head down to kiss Kenma. It was quick and light, but his heart was beating so fast he thought it might explode.

Kenma smiled back at him. "I hope you know I am not doing that in public."

Kuroo winked. "Baby steps. Got it."

Rolling his eyes, Kenma snuggled close to Kuroo. "So... When did you...?"

"About three years ago, I think. Even before that actually. But that was when I realized." Kuroo shifted the arm he'd wrapped around Kenma. "And you?"

"Two years ago. That's when I knew for sure."

After that, the two were silent for a few minutes. Kuroo had thought Kenma had fallen asleep until he shifted and poked Kuroo's arm.

"Hm?"

Kenma glanced at Kuroo. "I was just wondering... What's it like for you? Whenever I have a seizure I mean."

Kuroo frowned. "Awful. The first time, I was only so composed because I knew what to do and I was there for you. But yesterday... When Lev called and I realized I wouldn't be able to hold your hand, or be at the hospital with you, it was so much worse. I nearly went insane."

"Well you're here now."

"But I can't always be here. And what if it happens again when I'm not around?"

"Then I'll expect you to visit me."

"You know I always will."

Kenma nodded and turned around to face the window. Kuroo kept his arm around him and closed his eyes. He felt so... Conflicted. On the one hand, he was devastated by Kenma's situation, but on the other... Well, despite everything happening, Kenma had been in good spirits all day and was more talkative than usual. And now knowing that both of the boys love each other... It was a comforting thought.

The two drifted off to sleep, unaware of what was to come of their lives in the future.
