"Bro, they have a massive food spread. I think this is every meat I've ever heard of." Victor picks up something and smells it. "And some meat I haven't heard of."
Borus comes up behind us. "Yes, yes, we take our meat very seriously. How are you 2 doing today? I just seen Clark over in that direction." He points over to the tables.
"We're good. This place is awesome. I helped out building someone's house today. The sense of community here is amazing. I love it. Can we build a cabin here?"
Borus laughs. "Yes. You can build a cabin here. Nothing to big though. I need the biggest house you know?"
We all laugh.
"But listen guys. I have to start the ceremony soon. Get a big plate of food and go have a seat at a table. I'll catch up with you both later." He turns to walk away and turns back. "Oh I put a few bottles of blood in that cooler over there. Hopefully no one mistakes them for wine. That could be bad." He walks away laughing.
Victor grabs an empty plate and starts going through the food. "Someone's tipsy already."
I glance back at Borus. "Yep."
We both get our plates ready and go over to the tables.
Jenny and Clark are sitting at an empty table and flag us down.
I take a seat. "You 2 seem better now."
Jenny smiles. "I love all these twinkle lights. And all these flowers they have everywhere. This place is so pretty. And yea I feel better. I still need some more sleep. But I wanted to come and see the wedding and get some food. It's such a nice environment."
Clark takes a bite of something. "Damn these guys can cook. Can we keep them all as cooks?"
I choke on some chicken. "Don't think they'll go for that man."
Victor takes a bite. "We could ask though."
I just laugh as Borus takes the stage.
"Welcome, both old and new friends. Today we celebrate. Both the end of a war and the beginning of new love and friendships. My beautiful mate and wife wrote a speech for me. It was beautiful. But I have no idea where I put it. Does anyone see it?"
Everyone kind of glances around.
"No... Ok I'll just wing it. I'm sorry my sweetheart. I love you."
"I look around here and see a bunch of broken people barely holding it together. We have all been fighting for our lives for a long time. We have lost so many loved ones. We lost our villages. We lost entire packs. We have wolves here that are the only ones left from their packs. We have orphans, widows, and parents that have lost children. But we never stopped fighting. And now, we will have peace. Finally we can breathe. We will recover from this. The pain of all we have lost will not be forgotten but now we can begin to recover. Vampire King please join me."
Victor and Clark both laugh. "Just wing it bro."
I stand up and go to the stage. People are watching me and muttering to their friends. I look into the distance and see Annie standing by a far tree. The wind blows her hair. She's like a damn angle standing there. I have to focus.
I get up to the stage and stand by Borus. "Pack, This is the Vampire King Alden. He fought for us yesterday. Him and his friends." He points to the table where Victor shoves a big bite of food in. "Please rise."
Clark, Jenny and Victor stand up. Alkawn joins them from 2 tables over.
"They fought for us. And because of these new allies, we will win this. We can recover because of them."
