DRAGONSTONE
The sun was going down and he was holding her close in his arms. Caressing her arm. She gently took his hand and placed it on her belly. He could feel how their child was moving inside her. He narrowed his eyes and he felt how tears filled those eyes. That was a miracle. This family... having them... was a miracle.
"Your son is very agile already," Dany stated with a little giggle.
"My son?" Jon tried to catch her gaze. She turned her head to him and looked into his eyes. "How do you know he is going to be a boy?" he frowned.
"I don't." she shrugged her shoulders. "It was just ... I don't know why I called him a boy. I just want..." she sighed. "I want our child to be healthy and live in a world without war. Where most of the people are happy and ... in a thriving empire." Dany explained and smiled at him.
"Me too," Jon whispered to her mouth and tried to smile. In those moments he could forget the guilt he felt. But only for a short period. Then he reminded himself repeatedly that he did not deserve that thing. His mind and his feelings... it was like a rollercoaster for him.
"Ahm" Dany narrowed her eyes and turned to him a bit with her body. "I appreciate that you came there and stood by my side, against your sister. It ... It meant a lot," she admitted.
"I did because I think you are right. Maybe the North deserves its independence but that is not the right time." he lowered his head. "Sansa... can't..."
"Can't see beyond her nose?" she raised a brow and pulled a face.
"Can't see it realistically. Without emotions." he remained serious. Dany swallowed back her comment. "She... the North is our home. We grew up there and since our father... Ned " he quickly corrected himself again "left. Everything just went wrong. She just feels that we lost our home. Which is true... I mean the Bolton's occupied it but we got it back, and now she feels that is so unfair ... the North is not ours." he tried to explain. Daenerys pulled herself up from his embrace.
"The North is yours. Nothing changed. The North was yours when Cersei Lannister or when Robert Baratheon ruled the Seven Kingdoms, even before that." she shrugged her shoulders. "So I don't understand what changed or why she is unable to accept that... for those who are living in the North that is the best decision." she was mad at Sansa which was clear. She couldn't even deny it... not that if she wanted to. "She should forget the crown and put people first instead of herself." she rolled her eyes.
"You didn't give up your crown either." Jon raised his eyes at her and their gaze met. "I mean... you had no idea what is best for the people. You wanted something which belongs to your family. By right." he was staring at her face and he knew he went too far with his words, but he did not want to lie to her. Her mouth fall open and for some seconds she had no idea how to answer that. She moved a bit further from him. "Dany I did not mean..." Jon raised his eyes at the ceilings.
"Cersei Lannister blew up The Sept of Baelor. If I am not wrong." Daenerys stood up and she was clearly hurt by his words. "She killed your father. Your... your brother. She..." she spread her arms, turned away from him and back. "I did not even attack the capital when I arrived here, meanwhile I easily could do that. But I did not..." she raised her voice "Because I wanted free them from her tyranny." Dany almost yelled with him. "And you are telling me I am not better than Cersei Lannister? Because I also acted only out of my selfish interests?" she did not stop. "For fuck sake Jon, she killed many innocent people because she did not even care about them." she did not even think about her words, those just came out of her mouth.
"Just as I did." now it was Jon who raised his voice, and he jumped up from the bed. "I also killed many innocent people in case you forgot that. Why would I be a better ruler for the kingdom than her?" he was facing her.
"You still don't understand it was not your fault right? It was also her fault." she did not move away from him. Their eyes were locked. "She designed it. She made sure to make it happen if something goes wrong."Jon lowered his head and closed his eyes for a moment.
"I just wanted you to see things from my sister's point of view," he whispered. "She is not evil. She is not your enemy. She is just... scared." he swallowed. "Because she is afraid she is going to lose the North, meanwhile she suffered enough to get it back." he did not look into her eyes. "Just as you did. You went through horrible things, and I know you are better than Cersei. I just... " he sighed and rolled his eyes. "Maybe you... you and my sister... are more alike than you think. That is all." Jon shrugged his shoulders.
"I would never abandon my people in a battle and hide somewhere. A real Queen would never do that." she pulled a face and turned her back on him. Walked to the window and took a deep breath of the fresh air.
"She doesn't have dragons. She grew up in a safe place in a loving family. She was just a spoiled little girl back then." he remembered back. "She was raised as a lady. She never had to learn how to fight with a sword. What could she have done if she was there on the battlefield?" he asked Dany quietly.
"If you are standing by her side about the North, it would have been easier if you say that loud at the council meeting." she placed her arms around her body and her heart was beating in her throat. The fact that the feelings between them could change in a moment was hilarious. A couple of minutes ago they were lying in the bed. In the arms of each other. In peace. And now... they are debating. Again. The next minute she felt his hands on her arms and his chest pressed to her back. She felt his warm breath on her neck.
"I did not say that," he whispered to her ears then slid his arms around her body and hugged her close. He gave a kiss on her neck. "I agree with you. If you forget already I started with that sentence at the beginning of our talk." he reminded her and she slowly turned to him with her body.
"She will never accept me. No matter what you want." she raised her eyes at him. "No matter how you try to convince us. I hope someday you ..." she stopped for a moment "you will understand it one day or we are going to fight about it till the end of our lives. And I can't let some rebel rule one part of the Seven Kingdoms. The biggest part of it." she was serious.
"That is a piece of luck I am not a rebellious type and If I am not wrong the Warden of the North is still me not Sansa." he smiled a bit and Dany returned his smile. He gave a soft kiss on her forehead.
"This is... indeed the case at the moment." she placed her hand on his chest. "But..." she bit her lower lip. "How do you want to perform this task from here? From Dragonstone?" she was afraid. She was afraid of his answer. "unless, if you don't want to stay here." she was fighting with her tears. That pregnancy amplified her feelings so much. She could get mad so quickly, and she could cry so easily. It was hard for her. Usually, she could hide her real emotions and her doubts from people, but it was not that easy this time. He did not say a word and that made things worse. She was biting her lips continuously.
