Year 5 (Current year)

Pidge leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths, her body ached from the rigorous training done last night. It didn't help that she was now on yet another assassination mission. One to kill a king who's been sending the Paladins supplies. Moving along in the shadows she avoided the servants as they walked by as well as a move laughing children. The king dude seemed to have a tendency to hoard children for whatever reason. At least they seemed happy.

Pidge winced as she leaned into the wall, her arms aching from the beating she took. Enyta, made sure to leave bruises and marks, making sure Pidge would remember her mistake. She understood why, to protect the other galra there had to be punishments for actions, since it seemed sending away didn't affect Pidge as much as they upped the stakes. Most of the time it was simple beatings. Beating her till she couldn't walk anymore. Till she passed out.

A few times it was locking her in a room without food or water for a few days, leaving her to dwell in her own thoughts. Electrionion was often introduced in every beatening. Enyta made sure to punish her with any little slip up. Once beating Pidge til she was covered in her own blood, feeling like she was drowning in the pool, just for taking 1 second longer pulling her weapon... which was due to her three broken fingers at the time.

They had healed, but the ghost of pain was still there. Enyta had done these punishments throughout the past 5 years, but never to this extent. Increasing the pain had to mean something. Pidge was grasping at straws trying to make sense of her friend's actions.

Pidge quickly shook her head, sliding along the shadows towards the grand hall, where the king was currently talking to an advisor. Pidge slipped in eying the man warily. Grateful none of them could see her.

"Of course." The king nodded to the man. "I'll send more food down there. Oh and before I forget the shipment is ready for pickup."

Pidge flinched. The king was obviously a kind man, who cared about his people, but she knew if she bailed on this mission it would result in more pain then she could imagine. Failing wasn't an option.

Pidge took a deep breath, aiming her bayard at the pillar beside the king, pulling the trigger as she watched the blade wrap around the pillar. Using all her strength she pulled, watching the blade cut through the pillar like butter and start following towards the king. The advisors eyes widened his brown hair whooshing as he ran forward plowing the king over and out of the way of the pillar. His dark blue eyes scanned the area for her.

"Lance?" The king asked as the boy got up off of him. "What just happened."

"Stay back your highness." the one named lance said, a blue bayard appearing in his hand. Pidge's eyes widened, of course it was the blue paladin. She didn't recognize the outside of the blue armor. Pidge stepped forward bayard at the ready.

"How bout he comes closer." Pidge said, gritting her teeth. She was exhausted and wanted nothing to do with this stupid paladin right now. Lance's eyes widened as he spotted her.

"Hey," he said, slightly lowering his guard. "You don't have to do this."

"Says who?" Pidge scoffed at the boy, was he really trying to talk her out of this. She lunged forward before he could respond, aiming for the king. The boy intercepted his bayard still in its disc form, blocking her simply. He looked into her eyes, or at least what he thought was her eyes, all he saw was a purple visor.

"He's a good man, the galra have no right to kill him." Lance said, shoving Pidge back.

"Yet they don't care." Pidge responded lunging once again at lunch, blade at the ready she brought it down, his bayard, now in a blade form. Blocked her in response (Yes I know his bayard is usually a gun, except for when he was red, but I'm making it so the bayard turns into the weapon you need at the moment)

Growling Pidge slashed at him, only to be blocked each time. He was stepping back, giving up ground upon her attacks. Finally she swiped downward her leg meeting his, knocking him face first into the ground. Her bayard poised at his neck as she grabbed his hair, forcing him to look up. The blade touched his neck.

"Don't you touch her!"

"Welcome to the team Gunderson"

"We have to get Lance to the infirmary"

"WHAT YOUR A GIRL? HOW?"

"I'm an excellent shot."

"You are?"

"Yes it's my thing."

"Since when?"

"You come up here to rock out?"

"Yeah it is pretty cute."

Pidge stepped back shocked at the intrusion of more voices. Backing up away from the confused Paladin. He slowly began to sit up. Pidge brought the bayard down on him, watching as the electricity coursed through his body. "Huh." Pidge said and Lance slumped back to the ground. "I didn't know it could do that."

She turned around spotting the king staring her in shock from the same spot he was a moment ago. Pidge sighed walking up to him. "Sorry, nothing personal." Pidge said, unaware that Lance derily watching her, as he bayard slid across the king's throat.

"Lance!" Shiro yelled racing into the castle, freezing as he spotted the king's dead body and an unconscious Lance on the floor.

"Oh no!" Hunk gaped running towards Lance's side. "Dude, wake up!" Hunk shook Lance, watching him as he blinked back to reality.

"What?" He asked, rubbing his eyes. "Can't a dude sleep?" He took in his surroundings, eyes widening. "Oh no." He groaned, hand going to his forehead.

"Lance, what happened?" Shiro asked, moving towards Lance's side and helping him stand up.

"That girl."

"What girl?" Keith asked, kneeling by the king's body. Checking for a pulse with nothing in response.

"Who do you think?" Lance asked.

Shiro sighed. "She needs to be stopped."

"I remember before passing out, she" He raised an eyebrow confused. "Apologized to the man, sounding genuine

Shiro hummed in response in deep thought. Perhaps the girl nearly needed to be taken to a new environment to continue on to a different path. He nodded to himself.

"Uh Shiro." Keith waved a hand in front of the older man. Gaining his attention, Keith folded his arms. "Care to share."

Shiro cleared his throat feeling awkward. "I'll wait until we return to the others, they'll want to hear this."

Allura looked around at the gathered group, curious about what Shiro wanted to say. Once he realized everyone was here, Shiro cleared his throat stepping forward.

"Alright; we all know about the human girl working with the galra." Shiro began looking around at the others. "It's interesting that she felt bad during this mission, about killing a man. It reminded me the first time we met her she was also killing a king. Apologizing to a young servant as she ran past her. At an opportunity to kill Hunk she didn't instead she hurt herself, which shows me either she needs more training-"

"I don't believe that one." Coran piped in. "She's been exceptionally trained, easily having multiple opportunities to kill one of the paladins." Coran trailed off realizing what was happening.

Shiro nodded. "She knows what she's doing, yet at times it seems like she doesn't want to do it."

Allura stepped forward. "If she's being forced, we are her best option to get out of there."

"The thing is she doesn't want to leave." Lance huffed. "I tried to talk her out of it today but she refused to listen. She almost seemed angry, not at me though. I think it was partly herself, it's hard to tell when you can't see her face..."

Shiro smiled slightly seeing as the team was thinking the same thing he was. "I believe we need to track her down."

"And nab her!" Hunk explained, grinning.

Shiro grinned knowing the group was on his side.
