In my opinion... this chapter kind of sucks. It was hard to write. Writers block and all. Idk why it was so hard tho, like important stuff happens here. So why can't my stupid brain just let me write without staring at the screen for an hour with nothing coming to mind.
Early update cause I'm going out of town.
The lions landed softly in an open meadow. The mountains were high enough to block the lions from sight. "Are you sure the Galra have been active in this location?"
"Yes." Allura's voice came through the earpiece, slightly annoyed at the question, as it had been the third time it was asked. "A Galra cruiser just left, possibly dropping off a shipment or more soldiers. With how active it has been here, it's likely the human soldier is here or will be."
She earned a grunt in response as the paladins trudged onward, eyeing a series of cave openings. "Is it a maze?" Hunk asked.
"Yes actually." Allura responded. "The galra are looking for something inside there. Obviously they don't have the patience to actually search the tunnels." She said pointing out the many digging towels littering the sight. "Which is what we should do."
"Aw man!" Hunk groaned.
"Quit your whining." Lance teased swatting the yellow paladin in the arm. "The suits can detect higher energy signals, and obviously there's something in there. Mine's already picking up a reading."
"That is true, the suits are connected to lions, therefore you can detect similar readings. Whatever is in there, we can't let the galra have." Shiro spoke, stepping forward. "Let's go."
The paladins split up taking separate tunnels.
Lance walked onward in the darkness, letting the tugging on his suit guide him. No one else said anything about their suit picking up a reading. Lance had a feeling that whatever they were looking for had a closer connection to his lion, then the others.
So he continued onward, into the winding darkness of the tunnels. The ground grew softer the further he went, the dampness sneaking into his shoes. The dirt tumbled out from his feet, a small hole opening where he stood.
Crying out in shock, Lance helplessly reached for something to grab onto, before falling into darkness below.
His fall lasted a second before he hit a sloped floor, a slide dragging him further into the cave. "This would be fun! If it wasn't so terrifying!!" He yelled, a small grin fighting with a look of fear.
With an oomph he hit the bottom, stumbling forward from the speed of the slide. His hands brushing the dirt off him, a small glow pulled his attention forward. He didn't know what it was. "I know we don't usually do this." He said. "All the horror movies clearly say, don't head toward glowing or weird things, but imma do it."
Trying his best not to hum mission impossible, he crept against the walls. In the shadows, his hand placed above his bayard. Ready for anything. He slowly turned the corner, his hand going up to block a blinding light. His eyes used to the dark. "Quiznack, who left the sun in here." Slowly he lowered his hand, squinting as his eyes adjusted to the light, he squinted, the walls of the room seemed to be a reflective material, brightening the glow of a small object in the middle of the room.
Lance turned away from the reflective material trying to get a better look at the object, he moved forward. Eying the pedestal in the center of the room. "Why is this here?" He muttered, bending down to get a better look. Sitting or more like hovering, in the center of the pedestal was a gemstone of sorts. About the size of his fist.
