JULY 1- The vampires family

I don't think they ever quite realized I was different.

They never seemed worried when I slept most of the day and rarely ever went outside in the daylight, or when they could hear me moving about the house at night.

At times I thought, well they must know! To not know would be insane.

But then they never paid much attention to me anyways.

I was confused as to how this even happened in the first place. No one in my immediate family showed anything that could point them out, unless they were simply that good at hiding it. But then unlike the others I'd met, they aged perfectly normally.

And of course, the rest of our family was either dead, or we weren't close to them in the least bit. In fact the last time I saw family was at Halloween years ago. Why Halloween I couldn't tell you.

But of course I haven't seen -much less spoken- to them since then.

So as I re-entered my room, I closed the door and went to my large windows where I drew the heavy velvet curtains.

I returned to my seat and to my work.

There had to be a reason this happened to me. And boy was I determined to find out. Eventually my family would figure it out, even if it was when they were old and grey and I was anything but.

Because there's no way they'd never figure out I'm a vampire.
