Indigo Wheeler looked at herself in Nancy Wheelers full length mirror and sighed. She felt wrong. Out of place. You see the Wheeler household was prim and proper. Not a speck of dust, not an ornament out of place, but Indigo stuck out like a sore thumb. Where Nancy dressed in simple and sophisticated clothes, consisting of mostly Peter Pan collared blouses and knee length skirts, indigo wore Black mom jeans, short leather skirts, band t-shirts and leather jackets. Nancy always made sure her hair was never out of place, curled perfectly, where as Indigo's once mousey blonde hair had been dyed a deep red.

Yes on the surface the Wheeler cousins were quite the opposite, but that's probably why they got on so well.

"Are you ready Inds?" Nancy shouted up the hall, before going into Mikes room.

"MIKE YOU HAVE TEN MINUTES OR WE'RE LEAVING WITHOUT YOU" there was no denying that the sudden bang that came from mikes bedroom was him trying to find something to wear. It was the same every morning. Mike would sleep in, leaving Nancy to drag him out of bed, with indigo following behind, and while the two Wheeler siblings always grabbed something for breakfast from the kitchen counter, Indigo never felt worthy of doing so, instead claiming she wasn't hungry.

"God Mike," Nancy complained as she pulled out of their estate in her car, Mike sat in the front, scribbling frantically in a text book. "You're always doing this, sleeping in and then finishing off work in the car"

"We can't all be perfect like you Nancy" he retorted, starting the journeys bickering session. Like every morning, Indigo stared out of the car window, taking in the town of Hawkins. She'd only lived there for 6
Months, and in those 6months she'd managed to alienate herself completely, even Nancy and Mike seemed to avoid her during school hours. She didn't mind much though, life was easier on your own.

When they finally pulled into the schools parking lot, and Mike and Nancy had finished their bickering she waved a quick goodbye to them, heading off for her first lesson, not wanting to embarrass them by staying close. It wasn't like people made fun of her at Hawkins, if anything it was the opposite, nobody noticed she was even there most days.

Her English Lit classroom was still empty when she arrived, the rest of the school not having left their respective friendship groups. Pulling out a book from a bag, Indigo sat down and began to read, keeping her mind busy as the room slowly filled with students. Completely unaware that she was being watched.

She went a whole day as normal, going to classes, weaving her way through the sea of students, giving a small smile to her cousins when they passed her, but never actually talking to them. It was at lunch where she finally found herself having a bit of socialisation. Nancy had sat down opposite her, taking the headphones from her head.

"Hey!" Indigo snapped, grabbing the headphones from her cousin, scowling slightly.

"Oh don't pull that face! I just wanted to let you know that I'm staying back tonight and Mikes getting a ride with Dustin's mum, I'm sure she'll give you a lift too?" That was the thing about Nancy, she was helpful, she was kind, but she didn't pay enough attention to know that Dustin's mum would never have given her a ride home, in fact no one would. She just shrugged, giving her cousin a small smile.

"Yeah, I'll ask" she wouldn't. She knew that, she'd walk, like she had the last few times. Nancy grinned before quickly walking from the lunch hall, leaving Indigo, once again, alone. She was just about to put her headphones back on her head when she heard a commotion from across the hall. Her eyes snapped over to where the noise was coming from, and she couldn't help but smile when she noticed Eddie Munson, walking across one of the tables, shouting.

"But as long as you're into band, or science or partiesss,or a game, where you toss balls into laundry baskets" Eddie rose his voice directly to the table of basket ball plays. Indigo kept her eyes on him, that was until Jason stood up, and shouted back, her gaze fell on the basket ball player, and she couldn't help but roll her eyes at his words.
