Chapter sixteen

Darkness.
Darkness everywhere.
Peace and silence.
Nothing could be heard in the alley.
Nothing except the footsteps of three men.

They went deeper until they arrived in front of a big door working with electricity. A face-lock could only open this door. Tartarus had a strict protection system compatible with that of Gaia's and Nemesis'.

Hyungsoo couldn't open that door. Not for now at least. He analyzed the door and the system around the walls. So there was a strong protection. However, this wasn't the only passable road to enter or exit Tartarus. He knew that better than anyone.

The door finally opened as Joo Won's face was analyzed.

"Father will be pleased with your return" Tae Jun broke the silence.

"I bet"

"Oho, I can't believe that after so many years, you're finally back in your house, Hyungnim" Joo Won exclaimed excitedly.

He couldn't believe that either. After almost eight years he was back to this hell. But thankfully this time, his mother was far far away from here. Safe and sound.

"Captain!" He got out of his thoughts as someone approached Tae Jun "Boss is awaiting you in the dining room"

Tae Jun nodded and instructed them towards there.

"A brotherly reminder: don't anger him again, Hyungsoo. You have already won his favor back. If you ask me, it's better if you give him back Madame Sook-ja and we can all settle down"

Give him back mother? What a joke. She was tortured with him all these years. And he is not planning to do that. Never.

"Depends"

Tae Jun sighed heavily "I see, you take after his temper" and he opened the door revealing a big table in the middle of the room and on the head of it, Boss Kim sitting, ready to eat.

"Omo, my precious child, you're finally back"

Hyungsoo sniffed as his father stood up and came closer with his arms open for a hug.
'endure it, Hyungsoo-ah' he said to himself 'it's for your mother's happiness'

"Long time no see, father" as he accepted the hug.

"Hahaha" his father patted his back while instructing then to take a seat on the table "Let's dine together"

They went silent once the food was served. After a while, boss Kim broke it with a big sigh.

"Aigoo, it would have been an official family dinner after a long time, only if Sook-ja was present. Right?" His fierce smile welcomed Hyungsoo as he looked at him.

He knew the game. His father was making the terms of the deal. He returned the smile "We can always do that later. When everything is settled and everyone takes what they want"

His father glanced at him, still smiling "And what is that YOU want, my dear child?"

Silence.

"I mean, you did so many things for us. Gave us a lot of information about Gaia and spent so many years there to provide us. You also had to obey any order that little stupid brat was giving you. You suffered a lot" his irony was clear in his voice "So, how can I repay my intelligent son for his performance?"

Hyungsoo crossed his fingers and placed his elbows on the table, while leaning over "I want to enter the red room, my beloved father"

His father's eyes flicked. He wasn't expecting this term. Everyone knew what the red room was about. Documents of high quality were stored and protected there. All the history of Tartarus. One single document and it could destroy them.
