I felt my heart begin to race as we entered the gates and I felt Darius growl through the mind link.

'We'll be out soon, hide near the river that leads to the lake.' He growled a bit in protest but complied and I focused back on our walking The other dwarves were escorted to the dungeons while Thorin and I were shown to the throne room. We walked through the entrance way and I saw Thranduil Sitting on his throne. I kept my head down and my hair blocked my face from hs wandering gaze. He got up and walked down slowly, eyeing me before turning his gaze on Thorin.

"Some may imagine that a Noble quest is at hand. A Quest to reclaim a homeland and slay a dragon. I myself, suspect a more prosaic motive. Attempted burglary, or something of that ilk," He looked closely at Thorin before continuing.

"You have found a way in. You seek that which would bestow upon you the right to rule. A King's jewel. The Arkenstone. It is precious to you beyond measure, I understand that. There are gems in the mountain that I too desire. White gems of pure starlight. I offer you my help." Thranduil stated and I felt my eyes widen.

"I am listening," Thorin said and I looked over at him in shock, he hated elves. Thranduil smirked and continued.

"I will let you go if you but return what is mine." Thorin seemed to be pondering it and nodded.

     "A favor for a favor."

"You have my word. One King to another." Thranduil said nodding and I watched him closely. The man I had once known was not here. Thranduil; had turned cold and obsessive. I should have fought to stay. I hissed to myself.

"I would not trust, Thranduil, the great King, to only his word. Till the end of all days be upon us!" Thorin yelled, completely changing his demeanor. Thranduil's eyes widened and Thorin continued to shout.

"You, lack all honor! I have seen how you treat your friends! We came to you once, starving, homeless; seeking your help. But you turned your back! You turned away from the suffering of my people and the inferno that destroyed us!" Thorin seethed.

"May you die in Dragon Fire!" He screamed through the halls in dwarvish and Thranduil rounded on him, getting in Thorin's face.

"Do not talk to me of dragon fire! I know it's wrath and ruin. I have faced the great serpents of the North." Suddenly one side of Thranduil's face became distorted, showing signs of being once burnt, then as he stepped back his face returned to its normal state.

"I warned your grandfather of what his greed would summon, but he would not listen." Thranduil returned to his throne and sat down.

"You are just like him." He motioned for his guards to grab hold of Thorin who struggled as they held him and took him away.

"Stay here if you will, and rot. A hundred years is a mere blink in a life of an Elf. I'm patient. I can wait." Thranduil seethed and then turned his attention to me.

"Now for you, why would a young woman like you be traveling with a group of dwarves?" He asked though he did not expect an answer. I sniffed and wiped my eyes before looking up at him. My emerald eyes met his steel gray ones and he stiffened. Memories of the previous years returned to my mind and I whimpered. I was immortal just like the elves and we had fallen in love after his wife died, I raised Legolas with him and then he banished me. I sniffed and he walked back down from his throne, sadness and remorse flashed through his eyes. He touched me cheek wiping away tears and I leaned into his hand. He had banned me but I still loved him with all my heart. Tears welled in his own eyes and he pulled me into his embrace. I let out a soft sob into his chest and he held me tightly as if I would blow away in an instant.

"Kara, Amin hiraetha.  Amin hiraetha,  Amin hiraetha..." (I'm Sorry)  He whispered into my hair and kissed the top of my head. I looked up into his teary silver eyes and kissed his cheek softly.

"Amin mela lle, Thranduil. Never have I not loved you." I spoke softly and he held me tightly.

"Thranduil, take a deep breath, Melamin" (My love) I said once again and I wiped away his tears.

"Where is the ice cold king?" I teased him softly and he let out a little huff of a laugh.

"You have no idea how many times I wished to come and find you, to bring you home." He whispered and I kissed his lips softly.

"I forgive you, Thranduil," I said softly and I saw his eyes widen. I turned and saw Legolas with a shocked and confused expression on his face.

"Nana?" He whispered and I turned to him opening my arms. He pulled me into a tight hug and burying his face in my neck. I stroked his long blonde hair and hushing him.

"Legolas, my little archer. I'm glad that you remember me." I said and he wiped away tears from his face.

"Thranduil I must insist you let my company go," I said and his face started to become cold again before I touched his chest.

"You know better than anyone that I will return with the starlight gems and necklace. There is no need to fear." I said and he still shook his head.

"You may speak to them but I can not loose you again." He said and made his way down the hall towards his room.

"Legolas, speak to your father please," I said and he nodded running after his father. I made my way down to the cells and listened as the dwarves spoke

"Did he offer you a deal?" I heard Balin ask.

"He did. I told him he could go ishkh khakfe andu null. Him and all his kin!"

"Well, that's that then. The deal was our only hope." I smiled softly as I saw Bilbo's little shadow sneak around the cells. He went unnoticed, even by the elves. I walked down and they all stared at me.

"How are ya not in Chains Lass?" Balin asked and I smiled softly.

"Let's just say that the king and I have some history. Bilbo will be helping you escape and I will join you after you get out." I said and Thorin frowned.

"You and that filthy elf are lovers aren't you?" he growled out and I frowned.

"Thranduil has gone through a lot Thorin and no he was not right when he turned away your people but I don't think you understand what was happening at the time. He was not right but I wasn't either. I did not push him hard enough to help you and when I tried to make him turn back he banished me. I only have reunited with him and I will not let you disgrace him. Two wrongs do not make a right Thorin Oakenshield, son of Durin." I said and sighed.

"Make for the mountain and I will help you destroy the dragon," I said and made my way back up to the Throne room and then to Thranduil's chambers. I opened the door and wrapped my arms around his torso.

"Melamin,"  I said softly and he turned around to face me wrapping his arms around me. I was only 5'8' so Thranduil towered over me at his 6'5' height.

"I have missed this over the last 60 years Melamin." He said and I nodded in agreement.
